Chapter 127: Victory
With the support of the Nine-Tails' power, the scales of battle tipped instantly and decisively in favor of Naruto and his companions. Naruto’s vitality and mental energy were rapidly replenished, and a surge of intense confidence welled up within him.
"Let me bring this battle to a final end!"
Naruto resolved to give it his all, decisively channeling his psycho-mechanical energy to neutralize the robot’s spiritual energy defensive field. Simultaneously, Sasuke, bolstered by the influx of chakra, did not hesitate to unleash his full potential, firing off his meticulously developed Scorch Style ninjutsu at maximum capacity. The searing flames roared like an enraged dragon, charging toward the enemy.
Supported by the seemingly inexhaustible chakra of three individuals with Kage-level combat capabilities, the SSA robot was soon utterly annihilated under the overwhelming barrage of ninjutsu. The transparent shield on its chest shattered under the sheer force of the assault, and its built-in difference engine was compromised by powerful Lightning Style chakra, instantly losing all power and shutting down completely. In the end, all that remained was a twisted heap of scrap metal.
This remnant fell to Naruto, as he had undeniably been the greatest contributor to the victory. Gaara, having failed to secure the spoils for his village, felt neither dejected nor saddened. He thought to himself, "My sense of belonging to the village was never strong, and these so-called spoils are of little importance to me."
However, this battle marked a breakthrough in his relationship with Shukaku. Gaara had always been able to use the Magnet Release inherited from his father, but with Shukaku’s assistance, the strength of his Magnet Release had undergone a qualitative transformation. At this thought, the corners of Gaara’s mouth turned up slightly: "This battle was not without its gains."
As the fighting concluded, Temari and Kankuro finally managed to recover from the intensity of the skirmish. They gazed at Gaara, their hearts filled with a shock that left them momentarily speechless. The breathtaking scene they had just witnessed was deeply etched into their minds; Gaara had awakened the power of Shukaku, and he was now a world apart from them.
Temari worried inwardly, "Is such a powerful Gaara a blessing or a curse for the village?" Kankuro was equally filled with doubt: "I wonder if Gaara will truly gain Shukaku's acknowledgement, or if one day he will be consumed by it?"
Gaara said nothing, simply leading Temari and Kankuro away from the battlefield in silence.
"I look forward to our next encounter, Naruto Uzumaki." Before leaving, Gaara spoke to Naruto with an expressionless face, yet his tone carried a firm resolve. "Only a powerhouse of your caliber is worth my effort. The day I defeat you, I imagine I will find the meaning of my existence."
Naruto muttered to himself, "Don't go pinning the meaning of your existence on me..."
Sasuke had no interest in debating spoils. After the battle, he sat cross-legged on the ground, closed his eyes, and began to earnestly review the fight, trying to capture every flicker of inspiration he had felt. His brows furrowed and smoothed in turns as he re-enacted every moment of the combat in his mind.
Sakura stood on the battlefield, her eyes filled with confusion. She had always defined her role as the team's equipment operator and logistics support, but now, the combatants didn't even have a scratch on them, and the logistical supplies had been completely exhausted during the fight. She found herself at a loss for what to do.
Scanning the chaotic field, she frowned slightly. Sighing, she decided to start by clearing the debris. Sakura unfolded the mechanical arm belt at her waist and began to gather the wreckage and pick up broken parts. Each time she picked up a piece, she carefully examined it, judging its original function and whether it held any further utility. She then sorted the components into categories before moving on to find others.
The wind swept across the battlefield, lifting Sakura’s hair. As she worked, she recalled the intensity of the battle. The scene left her with lingering fear, but it also strengthened her resolve to provide better logistical support for the team. She knew that while she might not be able to do much right now, these seemingly trivial tasks might one day play a crucial role.
As time passed, Sakura collected more parts, neatly organizing and labeling them.
"I’m actually pretty capable, aren't I?" Looking at the fruits of her labor, a small sense of accomplishment swelled within her. Although she didn't know how these parts would eventually be used, she trusted that Naruto would find a way to make the most of them.
Naruto felt a sense of regret that he hadn't managed to capture the robot's body intact or access its difference engine to examine the programming. He sighed helplessly: "Ah, what a pity. Still, apart from that, I can certainly reverse-engineer many useful things from these broken remains."
A glimmer of hope reignited in his eyes as he began to calculate how to extract more value from the scrap. First were the parts' manufacturing techniques and materials. The craftsmanship was unlike anything Naruto had ever seen; at first glance, it didn't look like it had been machined, but rather cast as a seamless, integrated whole. Naruto scrutinized the parts, wondering, "What kind of process could achieve such perfect integrated molding? It is fundamentally different from the techniques I know."
As for the materials, although Naruto could barely identify the components, figuring out how to combine them to produce the same physical properties was a subject that demanded careful study. Among these parts, one process left Naruto in awe. The enemy also possessed a spiritual power similar to psycho-mechanical energy, yet it was vastly different from what Naruto had learned. They didn't simply use this power for fine manipulation or error correction; instead, they had infused the materials with vast amounts of spiritual energy during the fabrication process, precisely tuning the position of every atom and proton to grant the material specific properties. Naruto imagined the scene of them processing the materials and was filled with curiosity and respect: "Such a sophisticated application of spiritual power is truly astonishing."
Then there was the black box. By successfully extracting the mission logs from it, Naruto gained vital information. He devoured the logs, his eyes flashing with excitement. They contained both the details of the mission they were sent to execute in the ninja world and information they had gathered about other nations. Naruto understood the value of this intelligence, calculating silently: "This information is critical for us to understand the enemy and protect the ninja world. I must study and analyze it thoroughly."
