Chapter 123: Sudden Wealth
The golden crows had no idea what Jiang Yuan meant by those words. All they knew was that one of their brothers had died! Filled with rage, each golden crow screeched furiously at Jiang Yuan. Then, together, they flew straight toward him.
Jiang Yuan showed no mercy. His strength was unlike that of an ordinary Golden Immortal. These golden crows, barely at the Golden Immortal realm, were beneath his notice, despite their impressive talents.
But there was no other choice—Jiang Yuan was relentless.
Soon, eight lifeless golden crows fell atop Peach Mountain. Their bodies transformed into blazing flames that roared fiercely on the mountain’s peak!
Even Nezha was forced to retreat from the summit, for the destruction of Peach Mountain no longer required his efforts.
The flames born from the golden crows’ corpses were slowly consuming and diminishing Peach Mountain itself.
Jiang Yuan hadn’t expected such an inadvertent action to have this effect, but he was nevertheless pleased. After all, such a magnificent treasure was useless to him; he certainly wouldn’t leave it for the Heavenly Emperor.
He was resolute on that point.
In the end, only one golden crow remained. Jiang Yuan was a man of his word; if he said he would leave one, then one would remain.
Besides, the further he went killing these golden crows, the less tyrannical value they held. The last one barely had any value left.
Jiang Yuan was too lazy to continue killing—it wouldn’t be wise if the sun ever disappeared.
At this point, Jiang Yuan’s tyrant value had reached a staggering 2,854 points!
What did this mean? Jiang Yuan had never even dared to dream of such a number before.
Setting aside whether these tyrant points could help him ascend further in cultivation, just using them to promote his subordinates could spawn a host of powerful warriors in the Great Shang.
As for top-tier combat strength, Jiang Yuan had no immediate solution—but that was because the situation had not yet escalated to that level.
Sages would not intervene so early in the fray. Should a sage truly enter the battlefield, those few Human Emperors in the Abyss would not be to be trifled with.
Jiang Yuan’s fathers, Fuxi and Shennong, were both sages, as were the Primordial Venerable and Nüwa. Even they dared not be too aggressive.
They could only proceed cautiously and deliberately.
Nezha watched Jiang Yuan with a hint of frustration. Just as he was smashing Peach Mountain with gusto, why had it suddenly become so hot?
“Old Jiang, what do I do next?” Nezha asked, dissatisfied.
Jiang Yuan smiled faintly. “You don’t need to do anything now. This next phase is beyond your involvement. Just watch the show. After all, your chances to cause trouble among the Heavenly Tribe will be few.”
If the Heavenly Tribe became the Celestial Court as in the Investiture of the Gods, Nezha would likely be absorbed into it and wouldn’t be able to act recklessly.
Of course, even if brought into the Celestial Court, Nezha would always stir up trouble.
He was known as the Celestial Court’s number one rebel for a reason.
Hearing Jiang Yuan’s dismissive tone, Nezha felt a bit displeased but, considering Old Jiang had helped him ascend to the Golden Immortal realm, he only curled his lips and said nothing.
Jiang Yuan observed the battle between Gao Lanying and Yun Cang for a while. Feeling the time was ripe, he charged forward.
But instead of rushing into their fight, he looked toward the entrance of Peach Mountain.
Why hadn’t Yang Jian yet brought his mother out after all this time?
Jiang Yuan felt a twinge of worry. With ten golden crows guarding outside, could there be traps set by the Heavenly Emperor within?
Just as Jiang Yuan prepared to enter Peach Mountain to investigate, the battle involving Gao Lanying concluded.
The Fourth Elder of the Heavenly Tribe, Yun Cang, had been captured by Gao Lanying.
No wonder even Zhang Kui feared this woman, Jiang Yuan thought silently.
“Your Highness, what shall we do with this man?” Gao Lanying brought Yun Cang before Jiang Yuan.
Jiang Yuan’s gaze gleamed with amusement as he looked at Yun Cang. “Tell me, Fourth Elder, what did you mean earlier by saying I could never leave the Heavenly Tribe?”
“Hmph! You thought the Heavenly Emperor wouldn’t know after such a huge commotion in our tribe?” Yun Cang’s eyes glinted with malice.
“I’ve waited for the Heavenly Emperor for so long, but he never appeared. Do you think he’s afraid of me?” Jiang Yuan smiled lightly.
“The Heavenly Emperor must be in seclusion. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be so brazen here!” Yun Cang retorted fiercely.
“Are there any prohibitions beneath Peach Mountain?” Jiang Yuan asked casually.
“Why should I tell you?” Yun Cang sneered.
Jiang Yuan said nothing more and with a wave of his hand, a sword stroke severed Yun Cang’s arm.
“Now, will you speak properly?” Jiang Yuan asked calmly.
Though he had cut off an arm, he acted as if this were a trivial matter.
Yun Cang looked at Jiang Yuan without fear, still wearing a cold smile.
“Do you think I’ll talk just because of this? Because you’re a Human Emperor? Because you cut off one of my arms?”
Jiang Yuan made a nonchalant sound and with another sword stroke, severed Yun Cang’s other arm.
“Still not going to talk?” Jiang Yuan asked lightly.
Despite the pain, Yun Cang refused to yield. Instead, he grinned fiercely and said, “Since you’re already outside Peach Mountain, why don’t you just go in and see for yourself?”
“Don’t say I didn’t warn you. If you don’t go in to save them now, Yun Hua and that human-born bastard may die.”
“Looks like you’re of no use after all,” Jiang Yuan said coldly, staring at Yun Cang.
“What do you intend to do?” Yun Cang frowned.
Like Yun Yi and his son before, he found it hard to believe Jiang Yuan would dare kill him within the Heavenly Tribe’s territory. After all, he was the Fourth Elder! A Da Luo Golden Immortal and a pivotal figure in the tribe.
If Jiang Yuan did so, it could easily spark a war between the two races!
“What do I intend? Since you’re useless, why keep you around?” Jiang Yuan sneered.
He raised the Xuanyuan Sword once more and swung it down.
Yun Cang’s head fell to the ground.
“Ding! Killed Yun Cang, gained 1,000 tyrant points! Current tyrant points: 3,856!”
“Ding! Host ruthless and merciless, slaughtered numerous Heavenly Tribe members, gained 80 tyrant points! Current tyrant points: 3,936!”
The system notification chimed.
Jiang Yuan felt like he was about to take off—this wave of tyrant points had filled his coffers to the brim.
Now he eagerly awaited more Heavenly Tribe members to come and offer themselves, no matter how many, he would not tire.
At this point, no Heavenly Tribe members dared interfere, and the sole remaining young golden crow merely circled atop Peach Mountain, unwilling to descend—likely driven by survival instinct.
Because Jiang Yuan’s killings were merciless, showing no mercy or kindness.
Was he truly unafraid of offending the Heavenly Emperor?
No one knew what Jiang Yuan was thinking now, not even Jiang Yuan himself.
He understood he had perhaps gone too far in offending the Heavenly Tribe this time, but he simply could not stop.
Was it the thrill he sought, to pursue it to the very end?
Or was it because he craved those tyrant points?
In any case, the outcome was already set. Jiang Yuan no longer bothered to ponder. When the enemy comes, I’ll fight; when the water rises, I’ll build a dam. What is there to fear?
