Chapter 16: A Wild Boar Cannot Savor Fine Bran
Li Moxuan refused so decisively.
This left Huang Wei quite embarrassed; his broad, flat, greasy toad-like face lost some composure, and a flicker of anger appeared in his eyes.
“So, are you saying you don’t want to show me, Huang Wei, any respect?”
“And if I am?”
“You…”
Just as Huang Wei was about to lose his temper, a voice of delight suddenly rang out nearby.
“Moxuan? Is that really you?”
Li Moxuan glanced aside and saw a dignified, serious-looking man in his fifties approaching—dressed in a light gray suit, well-groomed, with graying hair.
It was none other than Peng Yuan, the former headmaster who had once guided Li Moxuan.
Six years ago, Li Moxuan had excelled in both character and academics, and Peng Yuan had taken good care of him.
Seeing his mentor again, Li Moxuan’s eyes glistened with moisture.
“Director…”
“Moxuan, where have you been all these years?”
Director Peng came closer, excitedly scrutinizing Li Moxuan and patting his hands.
“I heard some troubling rumors before… but it’s alright, as long as you’re back.”
Li Moxuan felt grateful.
“Thank you for your concern, Director Peng. Well… what happened six years ago is a long story; some unforeseen events occurred, which prevented me from completing my studies.”
Peng Yuan showed a trace of regret.
“It doesn’t matter, as long as you’ve returned. Our reunion is fate. No matter what, I am still your teacher. Come, let me treat you to a meal.”
With warmth, Director Peng led Li Moxuan off to eat.
Seeing their familiarity, Huang Wei quickly stepped forward, trying to cozy up.
“Director Peng, have you forgotten about me? I came back to see you too. I’m also a graduate of this school.”
Peng Yuan glanced at Huang Wei.
“Oh, I remember now. You’re the one who sponsored the technology building, Mr. Huang!”
Feigning modesty, Huang Wei scratched his head.
“I didn’t expect you’d still remember me, Director Peng!”
“Well, since we’re all gathered, why not dine together?”
Hmph, let’s see how you, Li Moxuan, refuse this time!
Huang Wei smirked inwardly.
Unaware of being used as a pawn by Huang Wei, Director Peng patted Li Moxuan on the shoulder.
“Come on, Moxuan, let your teacher have a good look at you!”
Out of respect, Li Moxuan agreed.
“All right then.”
Nearby, Lin Yitong rolled her eyes and muttered under her breath:
“Pride brings suffering. Just here to mooch a free meal, pretending to be all high and mighty…”
Huang Wei, playing the attentive host, led everyone to a nearby upscale hotel called Yunxiang Pavilion, booking a spacious private room for the banquet.
The decor was luxurious and magnificent.
Several attractive waitresses approached.
“Sir, may I take your order?”
Huang Wei put on airs.
“Bring out all your finest wines and dishes. Make sure it’s the best.”
Li Moling and Aunt Guihua felt somewhat out of place in such a high-class restaurant.
Aunt Guihua glanced at Li Moxuan stealthily.
“Moxuan, this place is too fancy. Won’t it be expensive? Maybe we should just eat at home.”
Li Moxuan smiled faintly and replied calmly.
“It’s fine. Since someone’s willing to pay, why not enjoy it?”
Li Moxuan treated the meal casually, while Lin Yitong snorted coldly nearby, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
“Truly, like a wild boar eating fine bran. If it weren’t for Director Peng, you’d never get to eat such good food in your life. Be grateful.”
Li Moxuan smirked.
“Indeed, this meal has both the wild boar and the fine bran. Who is who, though, that’s hard to say.”
He glanced at Huang Wei with a sly smile.
Huang Wei caught the meaning behind Li Moxuan’s words.
His mouth twitched slightly but he held back, turning his gaze toward Li Moling.
If he could win over such a beautiful flower as Li Moling, being called a wild boar was no big deal.
Director Peng paid no mind to the rest and sat beside Li Moxuan, warmly holding his hand as they reminisced about the old school days.
The two chatted happily.
Li Moxuan raised his glass.
“I never expected to meet you again, Director. Today, I offer this toast as a token of gratitude for your guidance back then. I promise to treat you properly another day.”
Director Peng smiled in return.
“Good, good. As long as you’re doing well, that’s enough. Come by often when you can.”
Seizing the opportunity, Huang Wei plopped down beside Li Moling with a smug smile, glass in hand.
“Heh heh, youthful and energetic, as expected.”
“Little miss, you study at Wuda too? What a coincidence—we’re schoolmates.”
“We really are fated. I’ve donated many buildings to Wuda and know many people there. I’ll make sure no one dares to bully you.”
“If anyone dares, just mention my name. Come on, let’s drink this glass to our acquaintance.”
Huang Wei laughed as he reached out to touch Li Moling’s delicate face.
Li Moling looked at him with disgust.
“Hmph, stay away from me!”
“Oh, now we’re family, don’t be shy. Let me kiss your soft little face…”
Huang Wei puckered his dark, thick lips reeking of smoke and alcohol, leaning in to kiss Li Moling.
Smack—
At the critical moment,
Li Moxuan raised his hand and delivered a fierce slap across Huang Wei’s fat face.
Huang Wei fell hard to the ground, and Li Moxuan immediately poured a pot of hot soup over his face.
The scalded Huang Wei screamed like a slaughtered pig.
“Argh… argh…”
“You… you bastard, how dare you hit me? You’re asking for death!”
Huang Wei writhed on the floor, filthy and drenched in soup, cursing furiously.
Li Moxuan stood up, his gaze cold and imposing, radiating an overwhelming aura of dominance.
He spoke sternly to Huang Wei.
“Keep your pig’s trotters and snout away from my sister, or I won’t hesitate to chop them off.”
“A mere nouveau riche, daring to covet my sister?”
“If you want to die, I can make it happen.”
Seeing Li Moxuan’s majestic and commanding rebuke, both Aunt Guihua and Li Moling looked at him with admiration.
“Wow, brother, you’re so handsome!”
Lin Yitong, utterly shocked that Li Moxuan actually dared to strike Huang Wei, widened her eyes in disbelief. She glanced at Li Moxuan on the ground and then at the pitiful Huang Wei, and angrily scolded:
“Li Moxuan, are you crazy? How dare you hit him? Do you want to die?”
“You’re nothing but a poor, worthless loser…”
Li Moxuan cast Lin Yitong a cold glance and shouted fiercely:
“Shut up! Women like you, shallow, snobbish, and morally loose, better stay far away from me. Disgusting!”
A splash—
Li Moling immediately threw a glass of water onto Lin Yitong’s face, venting her anger.
“Go wash your filthy self, shameless wretch.”
Lin Yitong was drenched like a drowned rat; her once alluring makeup now a mess, she let out a hysterical scream.
“Li Moxuan…”
After the initial shock, Director Peng, somewhat worried, gently grasped Li Moxuan’s arm and reasoned kindly.
“Moxuan, why must you do this? Huang Wei is no ordinary man. Don’t bring trouble upon yourself.”
Li Moxuan, understanding Director Peng’s concern for his safety, ignored Huang Wei and Lin Yitong, turning to look at him instead.
