Chapter 047: The Wind-Chasing Youth (Please Add to Your Favorites and Recommend)
Ordinary fish cannot survive in hot springs, yet these miraculous Ice Soul Silver Fish thrive just fine.
"Is there any justice in this world? I've been here so long and never knew there were Ice Soul Silver Fish beneath the surface!" Yun Yin exclaimed, astonished as she came ashore.
"Of course not, you have to consider who's here. I am the most beloved person under heaven, adored by all—people and fish alike," Lin Zhan replied, grinning as he fiddled with the food roasting on the grill.
"Ha! Stop showing off! I'm starving! Are you done yet? I can't wait to eat!"
Faced with such delicious food, Yun Yin could no longer bother with her appearance. She plopped herself down carelessly across from Lin Zhan, her eyes fixed hungrily on the sizzling fish, swallowing mouthfuls of saliva.
"Here, try this first."
"Golden Armored Goose!"
Yun Yin took the generous piece of meat Lin Zhan handed her and immediately buried her head in it, devouring it ravenously.
"Oh, I almost forgot—I have wine!" With a gesture, a jar of wine appeared.
Lin Zhan looked at her in surprise, while Yun Yin paused, her face flushing with embarrassment. She fumbled around, producing two cups. "Actually, I brought bowls, too."
They looked at each other and burst out laughing.
They both remembered the time they'd drunk straight from the jar, when Yun Yin was still the tenth junior brother—rough and boisterous, always putting on airs.
"Don't tease me anymore! I had to pretend to be a man back then, you have no idea how hard it was. Not only did I have to work just like you lot, I had to endure your sweaty smell and stinky feet every night," Yun Yin's voice grew muffled as her whole head nearly disappeared into the Golden Armored Goose meat.
"But your roasting skills are amazing! This is delicious." Yun Yin quickly reverted to normal, eating heartily and drinking in big gulps.
Lin Zhan returned from his memories to the present—the aroma of the Ice Soul Silver Fish wafted up, filling the cave with a mouthwatering scent.
Their appetites were strong to begin with, and this meal was like a whirlwind—every fish, every piece of meat, vanished without a trace.
Lin Zhan stood, rubbing his stomach. "Ah, nothing beats the feeling of being full. But do you think we've really been starving for several days?"
Yun Yin smacked her lips, still craving more. "I don't know. Let's hurry and get going. But today was the happiest I've ever been eating—do you think I'll get to eat your cooking again?"
Lin Zhan answered without hesitation. "Of course, as long as circumstances allow, I'll cook for you."
"Oh, Lin Zhan, you're wonderful!"
Yun Yin suddenly leapt up, and while Lin Zhan was distracted, she planted a kiss on his cheek and then fled, blushing.
"Hurry up, you blockhead! Come chase me!"
A cascade of laughter like tinkling bells echoed from the cave's exit.
Lin Zhan touched his cheek, shook his head, and sighed, "Women!"
He quickly packed the important items into his storage space and ran after her.
Both had just advanced their cultivation realms, so they were eager to test their abilities.
Lin Zhan’s Wind and Rain Cloud Body Step technique was learned from Yun Yin; one ahead, one behind, they sped through the snowy wilderness like two arrows, just as they had before.
"I wonder how fast he is now. The Yellow Rank is truly formidable—my speed is probably three times what it was before." Yun Yin stood atop a massive ice boulder, glancing back, worried Lin Zhan might not catch up.
Just as she finished her thought, a piercing sound tore through the air, and a swift figure closed in at lightning speed.
"Wow, that was fast! I underestimated him. Heh, watch out—I’m not waiting for you this time!"
With a flicker, she darted away like the wind.
In half a breath, Lin Zhan stood atop the ice stone. "Heh, you still run so well. But don’t get too happy—I haven’t even gone all out yet!"
With a whoosh, only a fading shadow remained as he dashed ahead.
A few moments later, another figure landed on the ice boulder. "Huh, Miss and Lin Zhan have both advanced—they move so fast now, that’s great! Too bad I can’t find the Hall Master. How am I supposed to report to him?"
The man in black looked troubled, then hurried off in pursuit of the pair.
Lin Zhan had already caught up to Yun Yin, but intentionally lagged a step behind. He knew Yun Yin was holding back; otherwise they wouldn’t be so close. After all, Yun Yin had practiced her body technique for over ten years and, now at the Yellow Rank, was naturally much faster.
At the medicine field’s hut, Lin Zhan saw the message sent three days ago by the sixth junior brother and thought, "This is bad!"
Judging by the timing, he and Yun Yin must have been unconscious for three days and nights after the tsunami. Now, upon their return, their senior brothers might be nowhere to be found.
"Lin Zhan, don’t worry. Let’s check the meeting point first. If other teams are there, we’ll know what happened to our brothers."
"That’s all we can do. Let’s hurry."
This time, both pushed their body techniques to the limit. Along the way, they saw several unfamiliar disciples—clearly new replacements in the Spirit Herb Valley.
Whenever these disciples saw the pair, they turned away, their faces showing expressions neither of sympathy nor anything easily deciphered, leaving Yun Yin and Lin Zhan feeling puzzled.
As for Cao Jin’s two men left behind, these three days had been spent in frustration and idleness.
Assigned to capture Lin Zhan, the eleventh miscellaneous disciple, they thought it would be easy. One day, two days, now three had passed, and they hadn’t seen a trace.
Afraid Lin Zhan had escaped, they searched everywhere, taking turns patrolling, and questioned the guards. They learned Lin Zhan hadn’t left, which only made things stranger.
"Hey, you think that rascal died somewhere in a remote corner?"
"Possible. Maybe he got eaten by some spirit beast. Let’s wait until tonight—if he still doesn’t show, we’ll just grab someone else to hand over."
"Just grab someone else? Damn, you’re clever! Why didn’t I think of that?"
These two, both early Yellow Rank, were Cheng Zhi and Wei Tielong, Cao Jin’s trusted subordinates.
They hadn’t expected Cao Jin to suddenly move against Daisy Hall.
"Old Wei, why do you think Boss Cao is intentionally targeting Daisy Hall this time? Isn’t he afraid of Yun Mobei?"
"Boss Cao has powerful backers. He never gets involved unless there’s something in it for him. But I hear Yun Mobei’s in trouble—many bosses are after him this time."
Cheng Zhi’s curiosity was piqued. He leaned in. "Wow, where did you hear all this? Tell me more."
Wei Tielong pushed him away. "Get lost! Would I blurt out such secrets? You’ll find out soon enough."
Suddenly, both froze and exchanged glances, whispering, "Careful, someone’s coming!"
