Chapter 5: Granting a Thirty-Million Loan to the Young Heiress

“That’s not just persuasion; he’s asking me to invest,” Liang Yuzhu whispered, recounting details like a treasured story. “The company is already making money— it’s earned 782,212 yuan so far!”
She and Meng Manman had been close friends since school, never shying away from discussing such matters and always willing to share everything with each other.
Meng Manman parted her red lips slightly, eyes wide in surprise. “Already made 780,000 yuan?”
Her family was considerably wealthier than Liang Yuzhu’s, a small fortune in their own right. For her, 780,000 wasn’t a trivial amount, but neither was it insignificant.
“Yeah!” Liang Yuzhu nodded earnestly, a smile playing on her lips. “I always thought Wang Yang was reliable, and it turns out I judged him right. He’s not only trustworthy but also very capable.”
Meng Manman halted in her tracks. “So how much money do you have left from your initial investment?”
“Wang Yang said there’s still 8,003,514.23 yuan left. We earned 782,212 yuan recently, and after splitting fifty-fifty, I have... 8,391,106.23 yuan.” Liang Yuzhu pulled out a calculator, carefully tallying every penny, her eyes shining.
“You’re still the same stingy miser as before,” Meng Manman rolled her eyes.
Liang Yuzhu was unfazed. “Of course! This is my money; I have to keep track of it.”
“Wang Yang said a single livestream can earn about 500,000 yuan, and they can hold one almost every day or every few days.”
“If one stream makes 500,000 yuan, that’s 3.5 million a week and 15 million a month! If they stream daily, my initial investment will double within a month!” Liang Yuzhu’s face was full of joy.
Meng Manman smiled helplessly. “My little miss, nothing is ever that smooth. Besides, this is all based on what Wang Yang told you. Have you seen the company’s books?”
“Ah...” Liang Yuzhu’s expression faltered, scratching her cheek. “No, I haven’t.”
“You’re so careless! What if Wang Yang is cheating you?” Meng Manman took Liang Yuzhu’s hand, speaking earnestly. “I warned you when you started the company to be cautious. Yet you just transferred the money without a word. Luckily, Wang Yang isn’t a fraud.”
“Don’t worry, Wang Yang would never deceive me,” Liang Yuzhu said with complete trust.
“Well, in that case, since you’re making money, you’re buying today. I want a good meal.”
“Okay, okay!”
“There’s a new hotpot place nearby. It’s about 80 yuan per person. Let’s go there.”
Just as she finished speaking, Liang Yuzhu’s phone rang.
She pulled it out with a puzzled look. Meng Manman glanced at the screen and frowned. "Wang Yang?"

Liang Yuzhu simply glanced at it and, without hiding anything from her close friend, answered the call. Her voice immediately turned timid and nervous. “Hello, Wang Yang? What’s up?”
“I’ve selected the items for the next livestream, but the company’s account balance is insufficient. We need a financial boost,” Wang Yang said directly.
“Ah?” Liang Yuzhu’s face changed. “How much more do we need?”
“About thirty million yuan,” Wang Yang gave the figure.
Liang Yuzhu’s complexion turned pale. “Thirty million? How... how could it be so expensive?”
Meng Manman furrowed her brow. “Livestream sales usually don’t require stocking goods, right?”
Livestream sales never involved stocking inventory; companies negotiated with brands, which paid placement fees, and the streamer helped sell, with the company taking a commission. A company like theirs, which only handled sales, would never need to stock goods.
Liang Yuzhu nodded and asked, “So we don’t need to stock goods, right?”
“This time it’s different. I need to go to the United States to purchase the products first, then sell them here,” Wang Yang answered as if anticipating her question.
“I see...” Liang Yuzhu pressed her lips tightly, hesitation clear in her eyes. “But I don’t have that kind of money...”
Thirty million yuan.
That wasn’t a small sum—it exceeded all her assets. More importantly, she simply couldn’t come up with that amount.
“I’ve already contacted the general manager of Gonghai Bank. You’ll need to come with me to apply for a loan of thirty million,” Wang Yang said briskly.
“Ah?” Liang Yuzhu was stunned again. “You’ve already arranged the loan?”
Meng Manman’s brows knit tightly. She had begun to sense something was wrong.
Demanding thirty million outright and pushing for a loan—under the company’s name, with Liang Yuzhu as the legal representative—if Wang Yang took the loan money and fled to the United States, Liang Yuzhu would not only owe thirty million but also face company bankruptcy. She wouldn’t even have a place to cry.
She gripped Liang Yuzhu’s hand and shook her head gravely.
Liang Yuzhu hesitated for a moment, then said to Wang Yang on the phone, “I understand. I have something to attend to; let’s talk later.”
“Yuzhu, you absolutely must not take out that loan,” Meng Manman said seriously.

Liang Yuzhu looked puzzled. “Why not?”
“You’re the company’s legal representative, and the loan will be under the company’s name. If Wang Yang runs off to the United States with the money and disappears, you’ll be responsible for repaying the thirty million!” Meng Manman explained.
Liang Yuzhu waved her hand quickly. “No, Wang Yang would never do such a thing. I trust him.”
“My dear, think about it. The company has just started to improve, and how much have you actually made? Including your initial investment, you’re still over a million in the red. Now Wang Yang is asking you for thirty million and planning to go to the United States to buy goods? That sounds ridiculous!” Meng Manman wished she could open Liang Yuzhu’s head to check if there was any sense inside.
“So... should I refuse him?” Liang Yuzhu hesitated.
Meng Manman nodded. “Definitely don’t agree! You have to recoup your initial investment before considering putting in more.”
“All right then...” Liang Yuzhu agreed. “Let’s go eat first.”
“That’s more like it. You’re just too naive and too trusting of Wang Yang.”
“Wang Yang isn’t as bad as you say. He really is reliable.”
“Go ahead and defend him, but sooner or later, you’ll end up crying. But this time, you absolutely cannot agree to the loan, understand?”
“Got it!”
…
An hour later.
After eating with Meng Manman, Liang Yuzhu found a flimsy excuse and took a bus back to the company.
Standing before Wang Yang’s office door, she inhaled deeply, her nerves apparent. She lightly knocked.
“Come in.”
Hearing Wang Yang’s voice from inside, Liang Yuzhu turned the doorknob gently and stepped into the office.
“President Liang? What brings you here?” Wang Yang stood up and poured her a cup of water.
