Chapter 1: Rest Assured, Everyone, I’m Not Dead
Page 1/3
—Is this streamer alright? Did she really die?
—How is that possible? Clearly just putting on a show.
—I don’t think something’s right; her lips look white…
On camera, the girl’s face was deathly pale, her head twisted at an unnatural angle.
At first, the viewers were just there for the spectacle, but gradually they sensed something was wrong, and chaos erupted in the comment section.
—No way, seriously?
—Call the police! No wonder Little Feather seemed off today…
—Where are the chat moderators? They warn people for flashing a bit of midriff, but now they’re nowhere to be found?
Snap!
Suddenly, the girl in front of the camera raised a hand and clawed her way up from the desk, sitting upright.
—???
As question marks flooded the livestream, Jiang Muyu was trying to organize her thoughts.
She was alive.
She’d died for sure, but the moment she opened her eyes, she found herself here.
The streamer known as “Little Feather” was also named Jiang Muyu. Orphaned young, she dropped out of high school due to poor grades and, by a twist of fate, became a borderline adult streamer.
Though her work was controversial, her conduct remained clean. After several years of hard work, she bought a small apartment and was living fairly well.
The mistake lay in getting a boyfriend—her neighbor, who fell for her at first sight. But upon discovering her job, he lost his mind, threatened her with breakups, constantly gaslit her, and took her money.
Just before her last broadcast, she saw him bring another woman home. They had a huge fight, and only then did she realize he’d drained all her savings. In a moment of despair…
And so, the very dead Jiang Muyu was dragged into this body.
Though they shared a name, she herself had been dead for nearly a century. How could there be a “recall” function, and how could it go so awry?
Jiang Muyu sighed, intending to withdraw her soul from this body. She’d rather rest in the earth.
A minute later, Jiang Muyu discovered she couldn’t.
The body was too weak, and their fates were too closely matched; she was trapped.
—What’s wrong, Little Feather? Say something!
—This is creepy. Did the streamer go mad?
—Told you something was off with her…
“I…” Jiang Muyu tried to explain to the hundred-plus viewers watching, but before she got a word out, there was a knock at the door.
“Everyone, hold on. I’ll check.”
Having inherited the original’s memories, Jiang Muyu was still adapting to this world a century later; everything was so different from her own time.
“Who is it?”
No answer, just persistent knocking.
She swung open the door, coming face-to-face with two uniformed officers.
“Hello, we’re police. We received a report of a suicide attempt here and came to check.”
So fast, she thought, and quickly explained she lived alone and had just felt unwell, hoping to brush it off.
As the officers were about to leave, one stopped and said, “Young lady, you’re still very young. Try to look on the bright side. If you need help, you can always reach out to us.”

Jiang Muyu nodded, promising to live well for the next couple of days.
As they were about to enter the elevator, she called after them, “Officers, actually, there is something…”
Three minutes later, the police had transformed into vice squad, banged on the scumbag’s door, and pinned the naked Zhao Jiaxuan to the floor.
“Who are you? What’s going on?”
The man, greasy and pathetic, looked like a plucked dead pig. Jiang Muyu felt disgusted; how the original could have fallen for him was a mystery.
While she pitied the original owner, she didn’t forget to play the victim, pointing and crying, “Officers, it’s him!”
“He not only spent all my money, but he was also involved in sex-for-money deals!”
The woman inside, now hastily dressed, was dragged out, her earlier arrogance replaced by disheveled embarrassment.
“You’re accusing us of sex-for-money? Look at how you dress—is that normal?” the woman shouted, “Officers, I want to report her too—she does porn livestreams!”
Jiang Muyu shouted even louder, “Officers, I’m innocent! She’s slandering me!”
“Officers, we’re boyfriend and girlfriend, there’s nothing improper!” Zhao Jiaxuan protested from the floor.
The repeated cries of “officer” from two people in their twenties gave the young policemen a headache.
“Enough! Speak one at a time.”
The lead officer, Tao Zizhan, pulled Zhao Jiaxuan up. “You first—what exactly is your relationship with this woman?”
A flicker of guilt crossed Zhao Jiaxuan’s face. “We sleep in the same bed—what do you think?”
Tao Zizhan frowned. “Can’t you answer properly? If you’re not willing here, we can continue at the station.”
Worried about the incident being posted online, Zhao Jiaxuan relented, “No, no, I’ll talk! I’m courting her, honest relationship. Officers, is it illegal for a couple to sleep together? The country’s even promoting a third child now!”
Tao Zizhan snorted, “So you’re dating this woman, but why did you spend Ms. Jiang’s money? Cheating on both sides?”
Zhao Jiaxuan’s eyes shifted. He wouldn’t admit it, “I broke up with Jiang Muyu, just now. She let me spend the money.”
“Officers, I didn’t!” Jiang Muyu jumped in at the right moment. “I was just being polite—he spent all my money! That was my savings—tens of thousands!”
“Shut up! Not so polite when you begged me to spend your money, were you?” Zhao Jiaxuan roared, trying to cut her off.
Jiang Muyu shivered and deliberately hid behind Tao Zizhan.
“Officers, look at him… How could I spend my money on a man like that? He’s ugly, his figure’s worse than a pig’s. I’m not blind. If I really wanted a boyfriend, I’d choose someone like you, officer…” She poked him in the arm.
Tao Zizhan: “…”
At that moment, other officers finished checking Zhao Jiaxuan and the woman’s phones. Zhao Jiaxuan’s was clean, just some transfer records.
But the woman’s phone was full of client messages, with several still asking if she was available.
Right to their doorstep.
Tao Zizhan said, “Take both of them away! Ms. Jiang, if you’re able, come to the station tomorrow to make a statement. We’ll check the transfer records to see how much he took from you.”
Jiang Muyu nodded gratefully. “Thank you, officer, you’re so kind~”
Tao Zizhan: “…”
Upon hearing he was about to be taken away, Zhao Jiaxuan protested.
“Why aren’t you taking her too? She streams porn online! Sends explicit photos! I want to report her—I’m reporting too!”
Damn Jiang Muyu, causing such a scene. If only he’d tolerated her for a couple more days…
Page 3/3
But she shouldn’t think she can get away—let them all be embarrassed together!
“Stop shouting!” Tao Zizhan snapped, turning to Jiang Muyu.
“Ms. Jiang, would you mind letting us check your phone?”
“Of course, officer!” Jiang Muyu obediently handed over her phone.
Tao Zizhan took the phone. The lit screen illuminated his sharply defined features. “Is this…?”
Jiang Muyu suddenly remembered—she’d stuffed the streaming phone in her pocket earlier while grabbing her jacket.
“Sorry, officer, I’m streaming!”
—Wow, a handsome guy!
—No wonder the streamer said she’d only date a cop—this officer is seriously good-looking…
—Officer, our streamer is a good person. So am I!
—We’re just a bunch of harmless fans who like watching dances. We haven’t done anything! Heaven is our witness!
—Hey, is that the scumbag in the corner? Screenshot, screenshot…
—Wasn’t this a positive-energy stream? How did it turn into a drama-fest?
The viewers didn’t expect that just by watching a borderline dance, they’d witness all this. The streamer almost died, then the vice squad stormed in live…
Spectacular, truly spectacular.
Seeing the barrage of teasing comments about him, Tao Zizhan quickly shoved the hot potato back at Jiang Muyu.
“Turn off the stream first!”
“Right away!”
Jiang Muyu was always agreeable, and since the original had done nothing wrong, she wasn’t afraid of anything.
While they waited for the inspection, Zhao Jiaxuan kept protesting.
“Officers, you’ve misunderstood. Jiang Muyu and I were just a couple—what’s wrong with spending a little of her money? And after breaking up, what’s wrong with me sleeping with someone else? How was I supposed to know she was a…woman like that?”
“Pah!” the woman snapped, kicking him hard. “You weren’t saying that when you were all over me just now!”
The officers struggled not to laugh at the two tearing into each other.
“Enough—don’t fight, we’re still here.”
Zhao Jiaxuan scooted away, still unwilling to give up. “When I was with Jiang Muyu, I saw her phone—full of men. She chatted about all sorts of shady stuff—she’s a ‘benefits girl,’ you know? Officers, you’d know better than me…”
“Is this the kind of inappropriate content you mean?” Tao Zizhan held the phone up for a second, then pulled it back before Zhao Jiaxuan could see.
“Ms. Jiang, may I show him?”
Jiang Muyu nodded indifferently.
With her consent, Tao Zizhan showed it again.
“The man you mean is this ‘Brother Wang from AAAA Building Supplies’? The other side is a woman. Judging by her social feed, she and Ms. Jiang just chat about fashion.”
Zhao Jiaxuan insisted, “There are other men! Her contacts are full of them!”
Tao Zizhan replied, “This ‘Brother Liu’ sells pancakes at the neighborhood entrance; ‘Brother Cheng,’ the courier; ‘Brother Zhang,’ a fake luxury reseller…”
“And as for these so-called explicit photos…”
The screen showed nothing but a blurry skeleton meme, so pixelated it must have been forwarded countless times, the quality compressed over and over…
