Chapter 11: I Truly Don't Want to Die!
The viewers in the livestream room hadn’t quite registered what was happening when the scene on the opposite side suddenly flipped over and then crashed heavily onto the ground.
The screen went black.
Immediately, screams and commotion spilled through the speakers from the other end.
“Ah! There’s been a car accident! Someone call the police!”
“What’s the emergency number? Hurry, call an ambulance!”
- “Huh? What’s going on?”
- “A car accident? But wasn’t that guy just standing outside the shop? Not on the main road—how could there be an accident?”
- “...Does anyone remember what the streamer said earlier? Is this the price of overnight riches?”
Jiang Muyu ended the call with Fried Egg and looked at the screen, appearing as if nothing had happened.
“Babies, the fortune that the Fried Egg boss wished for has arrived, but unfortunately, I can't get a five-star review... But it’s okay, I saw several bosses just sent gifts, so let’s connect with each of you one by one!”
“Everyone who sent gifts earlier can now apply to connect!”
- “Why does the streamer’s tone sound so strange?”
- “Mom, this livestream room is scary! I’m done, I’m leaving!”
- “The winner just died. If that’s not the price to pay, then what is? Who exactly is this streamer?”
- “Why is everyone blaming Xiao Yu Mao? That person wanted to win, Xiao Yu Mao warned him several times, but it was their own choice. Now that something’s happened, everyone’s blaming Xiao Yu Mao.”
Jiang Muyu nodded in agreement. Exactly, she had already warned them; if they didn’t listen and courted death, what else could she do but fulfill their wishes?
The next second, a shower of carnival gifts began falling in the livestream room.
[‘Little Sun’ sent Carnival ×1]
[‘Little Sun’ sent Carnival ×2]
[‘Little Sun’ sent Carnival ×10]
...
- “Who still dares to send gifts? Are they trying to die?”
- “Streamer, now I really believe your fortune-telling is accurate. I shouldn’t have spoken ill of you before. Please forgive me!”
- “So many carnival gifts! The boss is generous!”
Little Sun: [“Streamer, save me!”]
Little Sun: [“Xiao Yu Mao, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have been greedy. Please save me!”]
Little Sun: [“I’ll give you all the money I just won from scratching the tickets, okay? Please save me!”]
Xiao Xu’s hands trembled as he typed in the chat and sent gifts in the livestream room at the same time.
In just a short while, he had already spent a considerable amount of the money he had just scratched from the lottery, but now he felt no regret, only desperation.
Xiao Xu had witnessed He Dankang’s accident with his own eyes. He saw the car seemingly lose control, break through the greenery barrier, and head straight toward He Dankang.
No one else present was injured besides He Dankang. It was as if he had fallen from the sky...
He Dankang still lay not far away, and Xiao Xu dared not look over.
By some strange impulse, he recalled the streamer’s words before scratching the lottery tickets and immediately pulled out his phone to find Xiao Yu Mao’s livestream.
He frantically sent gifts, hoping to catch her attention.
“Accept the connection request, please accept it...” Xiao Xu murmured, clutching his phone, filled with desperate pleading.
He didn’t want to die—he really didn’t want to die...
He didn’t want all that money anymore; he just wanted to live...
“If you still want to live, stop sending gifts.”
Finally, a girl’s voice came through the screen. Xiao Xu quickly typed, “Master Xiao Yu Mao, what should I do now? I know I was wrong, please save me!”
Jiang Muyu shrugged and said to the others in the livestream room, “See? When I asked them earlier, they all said they weren’t afraid. Now, not even half an hour later, they’re begging me to save them...”
- “I watched the entire livestream. I know the streamer asked several times. This is all their own choice.”
- “Right! These two changed their tune so fast. Just now, they were telling the streamer to help them, and now they’re scared out of their wits.”
- “Serves them right. There’s no such thing as a free lunch.”
- “Streamer, don’t pay attention to them. I want to see what will happen to the other one besides the car accident.”
Jiang Muyu looked at the flood of connection requests and knew just how desperate Xiao Xu was.
It made sense—seeing a friend hurt right before your eyes would terrify anyone.
She clicked to accept the request, and the next second, Xiao Xu appeared on the screen.
“Master, you finally accepted my request! Master, I really know I was wrong. I shouldn’t have said those things. I beg you, please help me, streamer!”
“Master, I’m willing to do anything if you save me! Really, anything!”
Through the shaky screen, the chaos on the other side was palpable—voices urging someone to call the police, murmurs from onlookers.
Jiang Muyu sighed, “Hey, young man, why didn’t you listen when I warned you earlier?”
“I was wrong! I really know I was wrong! I’ll kowtow to you! Please save me, Master, I beg you!” Xiao Xu wailed, tears and snot all over his face, no trace left of the cheerful, sunny demeanor he had when he first connected.
“We were just joking back then, we didn’t expect this to happen. I’m still so young—I can’t die.”
Xiao Xu threw his phone aside and prepared to kowtow to Jiang Muyu, but an invisible force seemed to hold him back; he couldn’t lower his head no matter how hard he tried.
“No need to kowtow.”
Jiang Muyu looked at him with a calm, unruffled expression.
“If you really want to save yourself, donate all your money and start doing good deeds from now on. You’ll have some misfortune, but at least you’ll survive.”
Xiao Xu nodded vigorously. “Okay, I’ll donate right now! Right now!”
He fumbled around in a panic. “Where’s my phone? Where did my phone go? It can’t have been stolen, can it? Has my retribution come so fast?”
Jiang Muyu: “...”
- “Hello, buddy, can you see us?”
- “Isn’t your phone still livestreaming? Calm down!”
- “I don’t know whether to feel sorry for him or laugh.”
- “Streamer, please remind him, I can’t watch this anymore.”
- “You can tell he’s really panicking.”
“Your phone is right here, stop looking,” Jiang Muyu said aloud. “I’m hanging up now. If there’s anything else, send me a private message.”
Before he could respond, Jiang Muyu decisively ended the call.
Considering the amount of money involved, she gave an extra warning; otherwise, for those who bring misfortune upon themselves, Jiang Muyu wouldn’t even bother to glance their way again.
“Babies in the livestream room, don’t be scared. These two brought this upon themselves, so they’re facing their own consequences. If you’re good babies, nothing will happen to you.”
“I just saw several babies send carnival gifts. You can now apply to connect. Let me see who’s still here in the livestream...”
Through a closed door, Jiang Muqing could hear the repeated calls of “babies” from inside the room.
He recalled what Uncle Hu had said about Jiang Muyu being a streamer. Could it be that kind of streamer?
Even if there was no money left at home, he couldn’t let the other fall into ruin!
Jiang Muqing’s face flushed bright red as he abruptly pushed the door open. “What are you doing?”
