Chapter 120: The Crystal Coffin
The stars shifted and the heavens turned. In the blink of an eye, Lin Fan and Young Master Fallen Blossom vanished from where they stood.
“Is this a starry sky?”
As soon as the teleportation ended, Lin Fan’s astonished voice rang out. Before him, radiant streams of light shimmered, while stars appeared in the distance, gleaming brilliantly.
Young Master Fallen Blossom was already staring in stunned silence, looking around in utter disbelief.
“This is the Cosmic Star Formation. It can suppress every kind of power. Take out the Bodhi Seed. Only the Bodhi Seed can allow you to enter the main hall of the Small Thunderclap Temple.”
The spirit of the Demon-Subduing Pestle appeared. He had known for some time that Lin Fan possessed the Bodhi Seed; otherwise, he would never have sent him here.
The Bodhi Seed could ignore the might of every formation, making it perfectly suited to this place.
“The Cosmic Star Formation?”
Lin Fan murmured to himself as he took out the Bodhi Seed. The seemingly ordinary bead suddenly released a radiance ten thousand feet high, enveloping everyone within it.
“I never thought I would see a sacred relic of our Buddhist sect again. But the world has changed beyond recognition. Let me activate the Bodhi Seed.”
The spirit of the Demon-Subduing Pestle was filled with emotion. He had lived through the Buddhist sect’s most glorious era, whereas the sect had long since declined. If his guess was correct, it had even fallen from its position as a Holy Land.
“Very well.”
Lin Fan said no more and handed the Bodhi Seed directly to the spirit of the Demon-Subduing Pestle. He knew that he could not activate it with his own strength. Even if he managed to do so by force, he would never be able to pass completely through the star formation.
Radiant light surged forth, and a golden avenue shot out toward the center of the Cosmic Star Formation. With the Bodhi Seed suspended above their heads, Lin Fan and the others proceeded onward, suffering no suppression along the way.
“Young Master Fallen Blossom, there is no need to worry too much. Brother Xiang Zhenting has always been blessed by fate, and those people have their own scruples. Since they have yet to obtain the Demon-Subduing Pestle, they naturally will not do such a thing. Brother Xiang should still be relatively safe for now.”
Lin Fan suddenly spoke. He had seen the worry in Young Master Fallen Blossom’s heart long ago, but had simply said nothing.
“My elder brother suffered because of me. But I am too weak. Otherwise, I would have slaughtered every last one of them.”
Young Master Fallen Blossom shook his head, his expression mournful.
“When the time comes, I will help you rescue Brother Xiang.”
Lin Fan said no more. In truth, he already knew where Xiang Zhenting was. He was outside, being guarded by a group of overlords in the Celestial Human Realm.
“Thank you.”
Young Master Fallen Blossom fell silent. He lowered his head and continued forward, his spirits utterly dispirited.
“This is the main hall of the Small Thunderclap Temple.”
After roughly fifteen minutes, the spirit of the Demon-Subduing Pestle spoke. The radiant light ahead receded, revealing a vast palace before Lin Fan.
The palace was magnificent beyond compare. An ancient, weathered aura surged toward them, and the Small Thunderclap Temple had been preserved exceedingly well, untouched by the battles that had taken place outside.
“Who is it?!”
At that moment, a cool voice rang out. Radiant light flickered, and a figure emerged from the main hall of the Small Thunderclap Temple. A jade-like hand descended, and boundless power erupted like a volcano, exploding in an instant.
“Miss Xiaoxian, it has been a long time.”
Lin Fan smiled faintly and made no move.
He already knew who had come. It was Yi Xiaoxian.
“Young Master Lin?”
Yi Xiaoxian was pleasantly surprised. She withdrew her hand, and her figure appeared before them.
Lin Fan was secretly startled. He had already learned of Yi Xiaoxian’s strength, yet she had actually reached the eighth layer of the Meridian Condensation Realm, with combat power comparable to that of an early-stage expert in the first decline of the Celestial Human Realm.
“It has only been a few months, yet Miss Xiaoxian is even more graceful than before.”
Lin Fan quickly composed himself. Yi Xiaoxian possessed great secrets. Although her strength astonished him, it did not truly shock him. In fact, he had already surpassed her; his combat power now stood above hers.
“You flatter me, Young Master Lin.”
Yi Xiaoxian shook her head. She knew exactly how her strength had come about and therefore showed not the slightest trace of arrogance.
“Young Master Fallen Blossom, it has been a long time.”
Yi Xiaoxian also noticed Young Master Fallen Blossom, though she had not greeted him earlier.
“Greetings, Miss Yi.”
Young Master Fallen Blossom forced a smile. He was equally astonished by Yi Xiaoxian’s strength. He had never imagined that after only a few months apart, he would have become the weakest among them.
“Let us look around the main hall.”
Lin Fan spoke. He did not ask why Yi Xiaoxian was here. Everyone had their own secrets, and some matters did not need to be understood so thoroughly.
Yi Xiaoxian smiled knowingly and walked gracefully ahead, leading them into the main hall.
“This…”
Upon entering, Young Master Fallen Blossom drew in a sharp breath, his face filled with shock. Lin Fan, on the other hand, had already learned of the Small Thunderclap Temple’s secrets from the spirit of the Demon-Subduing Pestle, and thus remained perfectly calm.
“As expected.”
Lin Fan murmured as he paced forward. Before him stood a gigantic pool filled with misty radiance. This was true treasure liquid, and the air was saturated with a rich, fragrant scent.
At the center of the pool stood a crystal coffin. A woman lay inside, dressed in a long white gown, her black hair spread loosely around her. A golden mask concealed her features, yet no one present doubted that she was an unparalleled beauty.
Lin Fan slowly advanced and reached a hand into the pool. A tremendous force suddenly surged forth, flinging his palm away in an instant.
“Is this the Fallen Immortal Liquid?”
Lin Fan turned to ask Yi Xiaoxian, his eyes gleaming.
“That is correct.”
Yi Xiaoxian nodded without denying it.
“What immense power. But there must surely be something ominous within it.”
Lin Fan murmured. He attempted to circulate the Great Devouring Art, only to discover that he could not absorb even the slightest trace of power from the Fallen Immortal Liquid.
“The Fallen Immortal Liquid itself contains nothing ominous. The problem lies in its origin.”
The spirit of the Demon-Subduing Pestle appeared, a strange expression in his eyes.
“The Fallen Immortal Liquid is actually Buddha Fat.”
Yi Xiaoxian spoke, her voice utterly calm.
“Buddha Fat?!”
Lin Fan’s expression changed. Buddha Fat was the essence of an ancient Buddha, and only an ancient Buddha who had reached the Imperial Realm could condense it. He could not imagine how many ancient Buddhas would have to perish to create this entire pool.
“Terrifying.”
Lin Fan shook his head. Yi Xiaoxian’s astonishing rise in strength was likely inseparable from the aid of this Buddha Fat. Even so, he still did not understand why he himself could not absorb its power.
“There are restrictions within Buddha Fat. Unless one possesses a special bloodline, it cannot be used.”
The spirit of the Demon-Subduing Pestle clearly knew many hidden secrets and did not conceal them.
“I see.”
Lin Fan nodded. He did not dwell on the Buddha Fat. Setting aside the fact that he could not absorb it, his attention was focused on something else entirely.
The woman inside the crystal coffin showed not the slightest trace of life. She appeared to have perished long ago, yet Lin Fan knew that she was not truly dead. A supreme being had protected her seven souls and six vital spirits, awaiting her resurrection after countless years.
“What is this?”
Suddenly, Lin Fan’s expression changed. His gaze fell upon the woman’s chest. He had no intention of profaning her; he had merely noticed a fragment of stone hanging there.
