Chapter Sixty-Two: The Old Fiend (Happy New Year's Eve)

Era of the Divine Kingdom We're having shark fin soup tonight. 2407 words 2026-03-05 17:38:23

The head of the Ji family, Ji Wubing, arrived. A long sword stretched across the sky, radiating murderous intent, sweeping in all directions. His strength was formidable, barely inferior to Chen Wenxin, and the fierce aura he exuded was suffocating.

"The demon race should have been exterminated long ago. Back then, our human ancestors showed mercy and only suppressed you. Who would have thought that after countless years, you rats would dare crawl out of the abyss? Truly courting death."

Ji Wubing's overbearing presence far exceeded that of Chen Wenxin. With just a few words, the faces of all the demons changed.

"Ji Wubing, your arrogance knows no bounds. The demon race may have suffered defeat in the past, but now we have recovered our strength and prepared for a deadly counterattack. This time, it is you humans who will suffer. If not for those supreme beings intervening back then, do you really think your race could have won?"

The Lord of the Grand Void sneered coldly, his Dao heart unshakable, completely unaffected by Ji Wubing's words.

"I'd like to see just how strong your demon race has become, to dare make such a grand display."

Suddenly, a brilliant light flashed in the distance—a fist descended, shattering the heavens. Amid a shower of divine radiance, a figure strode out, surveying the world with a commanding gaze.

A shrill scream rang out. The six demon powerhouses who followed the Grand Heavenly Might Demon King were struck as if by lightning, scattering in all directions. One among them was smashed directly by the fist, his body destroyed, demon blood surging skyward, perishing on the spot.

"You impudent whelp!" The Grand Heavenly Might Demon King's eyes turned icy, shooting two beams of divine light, forcing their way into the depths of the void.

"You should have returned to dust and ashes long ago. This is no longer your era of dominance."

A middle-aged man stepped forward slowly, his whole body enveloped in divine brilliance, exuding an awe-inspiring authority. He raised his hand and shattered the demon king's gaze, standing tall, resplendent with blade and armor in the void.

"Domain Lord."

Chen Wenxin and Ji Wubing both nodded. The three men faced each other across the void, surrounded by stars.

"That’s the Domain Lord of the Heavenly Martial Domain?!"

In the distance, Lin Fan’s heart pounded with terror. He never expected to witness so many legendary figures today, especially the Domain Lord of the Heavenly Martial Domain—a rare sight, as elusive as a dragon’s head and tail.

"This one is remarkable, already half a step into the Title Realm. Judging by his bearing, he might soon make the breakthrough."

Prison Sky spoke, his eyes flickering. He was waiting for the emergence of that ancient demon.

"Each generation of young humans is more arrogant than the last. When I was invincible, your ancestors knelt before me, wagging their tails and begging for mercy."

The Grand Heavenly Might Demon King's power surged, showing signs of making a move.

The Domain Lord’s expression remained unchanged. Victory and defeat are all that matter now. The demon race had already lost; no matter how glorious their past, it was meaningless.

Thunder rumbled.

At that moment, the heavens and earth shook. In the heart of Black Demon Heaven, a great mountain exploded, sending countless fragments flying in all directions. An unimaginably terrifying aura soared to the sky, shattering Black Demon Heaven and connecting it once more with the human world.

"Are you welcoming my return?"

The peerless old demon finally emerged. He awakened from chaos, his colossal body towering ten thousand feet, as if linking heaven and earth. He was a mighty figure of the Minotaur Demon Tribe, who had not taken on human form but revealed himself in his true demonic visage.

"Hail to the Demon Emperor!"

Deafening cries echoed across the land as the demon powerhouses knelt in greeting, welcoming the old demon’s return. For a moment, even heaven and earth seemed to change color.

"Kill!"

The Domain Lord gave a signal. The other two great figures understood instantly. A terrifying power erupted as the three of them attacked with all their might, intent on exterminating the demon race.

"I have awakened, and you still dare act so brazenly?!"

The old demon snorted coldly, divine runes filling the sky and descending upon the three powerhouses. This was the might of a titled realm cultivator—utterly irresistible.

"Amitabha. This old monk arrives late."

A Buddhist chant echoed across the heavens, and a figure approached from the distance—a Buddha, incredibly aged, his body beneath the kasaya nearly desiccated. Yet none dared underestimate him, for he was indeed a titled realm expert.

Brilliant divine light shone. The Buddha attacked mercilessly, his demeanor cold and severe. His heart was that of a Buddha, but his hands executed the methods of a demon-slayer, each move terrifying, intent on utterly annihilating the demon race.

"My Buddha possesses a merciful heart, but today I must carry out a massacre. A true sin. Once this matter is settled, I shall enter seclusion and devote myself to my Buddha."

The Buddha flung out his purple-gold alms bowl. A terrible wave of vow power surged forth, sealing the heavens and the earth. The bowl expanded with the wind, as if to swallow the entire world.

"To think I would witness a Buddhist upon my return. So be it—today, none of you will escape with your lives!"

The old demon roared, leaping straight at the Buddha. The two clashed with overwhelming force, shattering Black Demon Heaven into pieces.

"Alright, now is our chance. Hold your breath and watch my great translocation technique."

Prison Sky rejoiced, quietly pulling Lin Fan aside. A swirl of misty light flashed, and in an instant the two appeared in the heart of Black Demon Heaven, precisely where the old demon had been suppressed.

"So fast!"

Lin Fan sucked in a cold breath. He had never imagined such a technique existed in the world. There was no trace of spatial power, yet the speed matched that of a Heaven-Man realm overlord wielding the laws of space.

"Don’t be distracted. Hurry and search for the Demon God Crystal. Their battle will end soon. At their level, combat has long transcended the ordinary. If nothing unexpected happens, after a thousand moves or so, both the old demon and the Buddha will be gravely wounded, and the matter of demon-slaying will be left unsettled."

Prison Sky breathed heavily, exhausted, casting a wary glance at the sky without giving Lin Fan time for awe.

"Right, let’s search for the Demon God Crystal first. That old demon is unimaginably powerful—even the defective Demon God Crystals from his body would be beyond the comprehension of most."

Lin Fan nodded, hesitating no further. He followed Prison Sky into the place of suppression.

It was a desolate land. Eight massive iron chains lay scattered across the ground, clearly used to bind the old demon. But after countless years, the ancient power that once infused these chains had dissipated, and they were now nothing more than scrap.

"What a marvelous arrangement. This is the place known as the Nine Dragons Seizing the Sun. In the distance, the nine mountain ranges face this spot—a natural dead zone, truly ideal for suppressing the old demon. Sadly, all is lost now, destroyed by the old demon himself."

A mysterious light glinted in Prison Sky’s eyes—he understood geomancy, and with one glance discerned the uniqueness of this place.

"Nine Dragons Seizing the Sun?! Isn’t this the legendary site for demon suppression? What kind of being was this old demon, to require such a terrifying place to bind him?"

Lin Fan shuddered, looking around. It matched the descriptions in the records exactly, and for a moment, a chill ran through him, his hair standing on end.
