“Yes!” Murong Feng and Murong Huang agreed without the slightest hesitation.
“Master Ban, since Young Master has given the order, close the gates. If Young Master wishes to leave, no one in this world can stop him.” Murong Feng spoke to Old Man Ban with utmost seriousness.
“All right, all right! Close the gates!” Seeing the solemn look on Murong Feng’s face, Old Man Ban finally nodded and ordered the Mohist disciples to shut the gates.
“White-Haired Monster, I’m not your opponent. Your true opponent is Nie Gai, so there’s no need for us to fight. Besides, if I killed you, Big Sister Red Lotus would certainly be angry with me!” Xiao Xie said indifferently.
His figure blurred. He evaded Wei Zhuang’s slashing sword, and after a few flickers, had already vanished into the passage behind him.
“Han Xie!”
Watching Xiao Xie’s departing figure, Wei Zhuang could not describe what he was feeling. That strike had been delivered at full speed. Even White Phoenix would not have been able to evade it unscathed, yet it had not so much as brushed Xiao Xie’s clothes. And then there was the finger strike that had forced him back moments earlier.
What had this youngster experienced during the past three years? How had his strength become so formidable?
“It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you suffer such a setback.” Red Lotus covered her lips and laughed softly.
If anyone else had embarrassed Wei Zhuang, Red Lotus would naturally have been angry. But this person was Little Seventeen, and that made all the difference. Seeing that Little Seventeen could actually make Wei Zhuang suffer, Red Lotus felt an inexplicable sense of gratification.
Besides, she believed Xiao Xie had left because he did not want to become enemies with the Mohists and Quicksand—or, more precisely, because Little Seventeen did not want to become enemies with his elder sister. That was why Red Lotus was so delighted.
“What incredible speed!”
Through the periscope, Robber Zhi watched Xiao Xie effortlessly evade Wei Zhuang’s sword and depart at his leisure. He could not help praising him. Robber Zhi knew that he himself could not have avoided that strike so easily. Xiao Xie’s speed had already surpassed his own.
The principle behind the Lightning Divine Movement was actually quite simple: internal energy was channeled into the legs, creating a brief burst of explosive speed. To an observer, it looked almost like teleportation over a short distance.
However, using the Lightning Divine Movement placed an enormous burden on the legs. Even Robber Zhi would never use it at full strength. He usually kept it within the limits his body could endure.
The stronger one’s internal energy, the faster the resulting burst of speed—but the greater the burden on the legs as well. If the power exceeded what the legs could withstand, the user would injure himself.
For Xiao Xie, however, such concerns were negligible. Although his abilities had been sealed, his physical strength was still far greater than that of an ordinary person. Combined with the internal energy within his body, his Lightning Divine Movement was naturally much faster than Robber Zhi’s.
The lush forest seemed to have donned a golden cloak beneath the light after dusk. Birds wheeled through the sky, and fallen leaves drifted down on the wind, filling the entire forest with the breath of life. Even the towering ancient trees seemed unwilling to be outdone, their branches trembling faintly from time to time.
A white figure moved with the agility of an ape, lightly tapping the branches as he leaped from tree to tree.
“The Lightning Divine Movement is quite convenient for traveling,” Xiao Xie thought as he bounded through the branches. Only someone like him, relying on profound internal energy and a physique far stronger than an ordinary person’s, could use the technique for travel in such a sustained manner.
Even Robber Zhi used the Lightning Divine Movement only in battle. He would never employ it so frequently while journeying—unless he wanted to ruin his legs.
“Finally, you’ve arrived.”
Xiao Xie suddenly halted and stood upon a branch. He raised his head and looked toward the purple figure standing on a branch of another great tree.
She had long purple hair that fell to her shoulders and pale-purple bangs that concealed her elegant brows. Her beautiful pale-violet eyes were ethereal and bright. A layer of white gauze covered her face, hiding her delicate nose and jade-like lips.
She wore a sleeveless purple-and-white dress, with a golden circular fan attached to its back. A purple-and-white sleeve covered her left arm, leaving only her slender hand exposed. Her right arm, however, was bare save for a purple armguard edged in white, upon which bloomed a white flower. The arm beneath it was as fair as jade, irresistibly inviting to the touch.
What drew Xiao Xie’s attention most were her long, shapely legs, clad in purple stockings. The purple high-heeled shoes on her feet gave him an inexplicable sense of incongruity.
“Are you the Lesser Controller of Fate?” Xiao Xie suddenly asked.
He had come out at this precise moment because he knew the Greater Controller of Fate would return to intercept and ambush the Mohist leader, while the Lesser Controller of Fate would appear to stop anyone attempting to send word to him.
Xiao Xie was not here to deliver a message. He had merely come to meet the Lesser Controller of Fate.
If asked which character from *The Moon of the Qin* he liked most, it would probably be her. Although she had appeared only a few times in the animated series and had never spoken a single word, the character possessed an extraordinary charm.
At Xiao Xie’s words, the Lesser Controller of Fate remained silent. Yet the slight twitch of her eyelid revealed that she was somewhat astonished he had identified her at once.
“My name is Xiao Xie, master of the Sky Ascending Tower. You’re so beautiful—why not become my wife?”
Xiao Xie spoke with deliberate frivolity. He was merely trying to tease her and see whether he could provoke her into speaking.
But the Lesser Controller of Fate was true to her nature. She had always followed the principle that if one could settle something with violence, there was no need for words.
Her hands flashed through a series of seals before her chest. Hundreds of leaves began circling around her body. Then she pointed at Xiao Xie with her left hand, and the leaves shot toward him like a storm of darts.
Xiao Xie activated the Lightning Divine Movement. Seeing that the tree where he had been standing had been sliced into hundreds of pieces by the leaves, he knew the Lesser Controller of Fate was angry. Otherwise, she would never have cut the tree apart along with him.
Looking at her, Xiao Xie praised, “The Yin-Yang School’s Ten Thousand Leaf Flower Flow truly is extraordinary. Of course, its power also depends on the talent of its wielder.”
The Ten Thousand Leaf Flower Flow was a wood-element Yin-Yang art and the Lesser Controller of Fate’s signature technique. It was a high-level art capable of controlling plants and restoring their vitality. When unleashed, countless leaves flew forth, each one sharp enough to cut through metal and jade. Leaves, vines, and whips could all be transformed into weapons.
“Although this technique is quite beautiful, its power is rather excessive. Are you trying to murder your husband?”
Xiao Xie’s expression suddenly changed. Pointing at the Lesser Controller of Fate, he cried out as though she had committed some unforgivable atrocity.
She extended both hands, and countless leaves appeared before her, forming rings of green. The rings then transformed into streaks of emerald light and shot fiercely toward Xiao Xie.
“Are you angry now?” Xiao Xie wondered when he saw her unleash an even more powerful version of the Ten Thousand Leaf Flower Flow.
He immediately activated the Lightning Divine Movement, dodging her attacks while shouting, “Help! Somebody help! She’s trying to murder her husband!”
At the sound of his cries, the Lesser Controller of Fate’s beautiful eyes widened slightly. The seals formed by her hands moved even faster.
Suddenly, vines burst from the trees surrounding Xiao Xie and coiled toward him. Countless tendrils writhed like venomous snakes as they lunged to bind him.
“Danger! Danger!”
Xiao Xie once again used the Lightning Divine Movement to evade the attacking vines. He cried out in alarm, pretending to be terrified. Then his eyes shifted, and the corners of his mouth curved upward.
He unleashed the technique at full force and rushed toward the Lesser Controller of Fate. After several flickers, he appeared behind her, extending both arms and wrapping them around her slender waist, so delicate it seemed he could encircle it with one hand.
That embrace was like kicking a hornet’s nest.
Countless leaves surged together into a green torrent, resembling a colossal emerald dragon as they rushed toward Xiao Xie.
Clang, clang, clang!
A three-foot wall of energy formed around Xiao Xie, enveloping both him and the Lesser Controller of Fate. Beyond it, the countless leaves shot toward him with lethal force, but every one was blocked by the invisible barrier.
“My darling wife, are you really trying to murder your husband?”
Xiao Xie leaned close to the Lesser Controller of Fate’s ear and spoke in a teasing voice.
