"Xian, I haven’t even looked at my speech yet, and I’m not familiar with your segment either! Why don’t you come to my place tonight? Let’s have a proper talk about tomorrow’s show!" Laura suggested.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Zeng Xiaoxian replied, “Alright, Laura.”
With her arm around Zeng Xiaoxian’s shoulders, Laura bid farewell to everyone in the Love Apartment and left. Zeng Xiaoxian, utterly captivated by Laura, followed her out.
“Teacher Zeng is hopeless,” Chen Meijia said, shaking her head as she munched on popcorn.
“How boring. I’d rather see what’s good on TV,” Lin Wanyu said helplessly, having already given up hope for Zeng Xiaoxian.
“Breaking news: There has been a nuclear leak at the nuclear plant on Yoshida Island in Japan. The Japanese government has begun evacuating residents from the island. Experts predict that if the leak continues, it could become the largest nuclear disaster in history, potentially causing severe pollution to surrounding seas. Our reporters are gathering more details.”
“How could this happen?!” Guan Gu was the most shocked, being Japanese himself.
“A nuclear leak? That must be so exciting!” Lin Wanyu exclaimed, but when she saw the strange looks from Xiao Xie and the others, she quickly corrected herself, “I mean, that must be terrible!”
“I have something to take care of. I’ll be out for a bit,” Xiao Xie said to the others before leaving.
Once outside the Love Apartment, Xiao Xie donned his Iron Man suit and headed straight for Yoshida Island.
...
Chop-chop-chop...
“Ladies and gentlemen, up ahead is Yoshida Island. All the residents have already been evacuated. We’ll be broadcasting the entire event live for you,” reported a journalist from a helicopter several miles from the island and hundreds of meters above the ground.
One had to admit, these reporters from various countries were truly dedicated. Despite the danger of radiation, they still risked their lives to cover the story. However, they weren’t reckless—the helicopter kept a safe distance from Yoshida Island, never daring to get too close.
“What’s that?”
Suddenly, a white beam of light streaked across the sky and stopped above Yoshida Island. As the light faded, a white figure appeared: an old man dressed in a white robe, with long white hair and a flowing white beard. Despite his snow-white hair, his face was ruddy and youthful, bearing the features of a Westerner and a pair of deep blue, intelligent eyes. In his hand, he held a staff as tall as a man.
“Spirits of ice in the realm of space, gather your strength in my hand! Freeze the earth, turn mountains and rivers to ice, shroud all things in white, seal the world in endless frost!” The old man raised his staff and shouted. A dazzling white light flashed across the sky.
At that very moment, dozens of miles from Yoshida Island, on a deserted isle, ten shadowy figures sat cross-legged. One of them looked up at the white light and said, “Shadow Clone Technique—release!”
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Ten wisps of white mist flashed by, and the enormous chakra from these shadow clones tore through space, flowing back into Xiao Xie’s true body.
Feeling the sudden surge of tenfold chakra, Xiao Xie willed it into magical energy.
With a thought, he cast the Forbidden Spell: Endless Frost. In the guise of the white-robed elder, a massive magic circle appeared at his feet. Supported by the immense magical power, a wave of chilling force, brimming with the might of ice and snow, surged from the circle, instantly freezing the entire Yoshida Island and the surrounding ten-mile sea.
“Above Yoshida Island, a white-robed old man has suddenly appeared—oh my God! Is this man a legendary wizard?” The American reporter, witnessing the elder utter a few incantations and freeze the entire island, felt his worldview shatter.
The white-robed elder suddenly flew up to the American news helicopter and addressed the camera: “I am Gulaf, president of the American Guild of Wizards. Listen, you ordinary folk: do not pursue power blindly and forget the dangers it brings. Remember, the Earth does not belong to humans alone!”
With that, Gulaf turned into a white beam and flew away, leaving the stunned reporters behind.
Because the event was broadcast live, everyone watching television also saw Gulaf’s freezing of Yoshida Island. As the footage spread, the public erupted—the internet was ablaze with excitement.
“What did I just see? A legendary wizard!”
“According to ancient lore, if a man remains a virgin until the age of twenty-five, he can become a wizard. The longer he stays a virgin, the more spells he can use, and the greater their power. Hahaha… all these years of chastity are finally paying off!”
“Did you catch that? The great wizard said he’s president of the American Wizard Guild. Does that mean other countries have wizard guilds too?”
“If America has a guild of wizards, then China must have cultivators. I need to visit Kunlun and Mount Shu—maybe I’ll meet a real cultivator! Hahaha... fairy maidens, here I come!”
...
“Incredible! Lord Gulaf is amazing!” Guan Gu cried out in excitement as he watched Gulaf freeze the whole island on TV.
“I’ve dated teachers, actors, students, nurses, all kinds of girls—but I’ve never dated a female wizard! I’ve finally found my new life goal,” Lu Ziqiao mused.
“Zhanbo, what are you doing?” Lin Wanyu asked, curious as she watched Zhanbo pack his bags.
“I’m going to America. I’m sure I’ll find Optimus Prime!” Lu Zhanbo said excitedly.
“You’re crazy. Even if you go to America, you’ll at most find a wizard, not a Transformer,” Hu Yifei said, rolling her eyes at Zhanbo’s odd logic.
“Maybe these wizards know the Transformers!” Now that there were wizards in the world, Lu Zhanbo was more convinced than ever that Transformers existed.
“Bro, don’t be naïve. Transformers are just made up for movies; they can’t possibly be real,” Hu Yifei said helplessly.
“I don’t care. I’m going to America to find Optimus Prime,” Lu Zhanbo said stubbornly.
“Hm?!” Upon hearing this, Hu Yifei gripped her stainless steel cup so tightly that it crumpled in her hand.
“Yifei, don’t be rash!”
“Feifei, Zhanbo just forgot to take his medicine. You know he’s a bit off in the head. Don’t bother with him,” Chen Meijia and Lin Wanyu hurried to restrain the furious Hu Yifei, all the while signaling frantically at Zhanbo.
Lu Zhanbo glanced at the misshapen cup in Hu Yifei’s hand, shivered, put down his luggage, and said, “Sis, on second thought, I probably won’t find Optimus Prime even if I go to America. I’d better stay.”
“What’s with all the excitement? What are you all talking about?” Xiao Xie walked in carrying a large bag of snacks.
“Xiao Xie, you missed a great show! There was a live broadcast on TV—a wizard named Gulaf froze the whole of Yoshida Island in one move. Now the place is a real ice island!” Lin Wanyu exclaimed excitedly.
“Really? What a pity. I’ll just catch the replay later. Anyone want snacks?” Xiao Xie said nonchalantly.
“I do! I just finished the popcorn,” Chen Meijia said, raising her hand.
“I want some beef jerky.” Hu Yifei took a pack of beef jerky from Xiao Xie’s snacks and began to eat.
“I want chips.”
“I want...”
...
Deep beneath the sea in the area known as the Bermuda Triangle, southeast of Florida in North America, inside a massive steel fortress, a group of aliens with enormous heads and eyes watched the footage of Gulaf freezing Yoshida Island and discussed among themselves.
“I can’t believe wizards actually exist on Earth!”
“Just a few months ago, an Iron Man appeared in China, and now there’s a wizard?”
