Chapter 113: The Aggrieved Button
Page 1/3
Elly was furious, and the consequences were severe. Having spent a long time with Van Li, aside from her unusual facial features, she was indistinguishable from an ordinary little girl. She would compromise for snacks, sulk when ignored, and even reduce her affection. However... this kindness came with a condition: it was limited solely to Van Li.
Elly was a monster—that was an undeniable fact.
The Butcher was terrifying, a living embodiment of all slaughter and negative emotions. Wielding a broad blade, even when facing suffocating zombies, it could alter the atmosphere, mercilessly slaughtering them along the factory corridors.
But Elly’s very existence was meant to instill terror. Just as the broad blade was about to strike her head, Elly swiftly dodged with perfect agility. Her spiral-shaped teeth began to spin, and compared to when she faced zombies, the speed of their rotation increased dramatically—indicating that Elly was now in a state of rage. Pushing off with her legs, she leapt fiercely and landed directly on the Butcher’s broad blade.
The Butcher’s weakness was speed; its body, sewn together from different skins, caused its movements to remain twisted and awkward. At this moment, it was utterly incapable of stopping Elly’s attack.
“Bang!”
The clash of metal rang out as Elly, wielding a giant hammer, struck the triangular headpiece on the Butcher’s face.
It was unclear what material that triangular crown was made of, but despite the close-range blow, not a single crack appeared.
Suddenly, a sharp alarm blared.
Van Li’s heart skipped a beat. He understood what this meant. If his world was the surface level, then the Butcher’s summoned realm was a deeper layer—a world completely ruled by corpses, darkness, and evil.
Clearly, Elly’s lethal strike had enraged the Butcher. The fight was just beginning, and it had already unleashed its trump card.
A few days ago, the suffocating zombie had met its bitter end under such an assault.
A few meters away, the corridor where the Butcher and Elly stood visibly changed. Once dimly lit with some visibility, it was now wrapped entirely in darkness, impenetrable even to night vision.
Van Li tried to call Elly, urging her to retreat quickly. Both were his trump cards, and with a great enemy at hand, internal conflicts were the last thing he needed.
Suddenly, intricate patterns appeared in the darkness before Van Li’s eyes, resembling strands of jet-black hair.
A chill ran up from his feet. Without hesitation, Van Li reached into his coat pocket and swiftly wiped a button three times.
“Phew...”
He exhaled, a breath visible in the cold air, like the unique fog of winter.
If someone had come to hug him at that moment, they would have felt as if they were embracing a humanoid block of ice.
While wiping, Van Li quickly stepped backward. In his peripheral vision, a pair of high heels appeared not far from him.

It felt as though no matter how far he retreated, he could not escape the pursuit.
The monster’s strength was beyond imagination, clearly incomparable to ordinary zombies.
He must not look up!
Van Li warned himself. From their positions, if he raised his head, he would see those two protruding eyes.
He had ruined the monster’s classroom and scared off most of the students. The creature’s hatred toward Van Li had clearly reached a peak, making face-to-face interaction unwise.
Van Li kept his head lowered. Just as he noticed the high heels drawing closer, almost at his feet—
“Clack!”
A button suddenly dropped from mid-air.
A cold aura began to spread around. Van Li sensed a figure appear beside him.
Help had arrived. Van Li quickly looked up.
From the side, he saw Button puffing up its cheeks like a tiny machine gun, spraying out a rapid barrage of nails, pebbles, and buttons, all striking the monster’s face.
“Bang bang bang!”
Even the monster took a few steps back under the intense fire.
Lifting its head, its face was ghastly and battered. Decayed blood dripped down its cheeks, and its bulging eyes were like gates to hell, radiating death and despair—just a glance felt like the soul would be sucked away.
Van Li felt as if his human consciousness would freeze and turn into one of those twisted, rotting zombies in the classroom.
“Button, hold it back for me!”
Reinforcements had arrived.
This was Van Li’s last chance.
Button, unaware of what exactly was happening—from its appearance to the attack and now—was driven by instinct. Everything was happening too fast, and it wasn’t even clear about the enemy’s strength.
Then...
It moved close to the monster’s face, seeing those resentful eyes. Following orders, it tried to counterattack, but was a step too slow.
Button helplessly watched as the monster raised its arm and slapped its face.
“Smack!”
A sharp crack sounded. The few remaining supplies in Button’s mouth scattered, its neck twisted to a physiological limit, and its teeth fell out one by one, turning to fragments in the blink of an eye.
The gap was too vast.
As a mutant, Button’s fate facing such a furious monster was predictable.
Page 3/3
Van Li knew this well and never expected Button to turn the tide. He only hoped it could buy him some time.
He couldn’t help but feel a pang of sympathy—Button had just recovered, and now it would need to regain its killing value again.
Button was slapped into a corner, instinctively curling into a ball. Its remaining thoughts stirred restlessly, unwilling to get up and join a pointless fight.
Having been injured by multiple monsters in succession, Button was already in a fragile, almost broken state.
Meanwhile, Van Li no longer cared for Button’s safety. From the moment Button appeared and drew the monster’s attention, he had started moving—like a bull seeing red—charging straight into the dark world summoned by the Butcher.
The pressure behind him intensified suddenly!
Everything the monster endured was because of him. Its hatred toward Van Li was beyond words.
“Clack... clack...”
The sound of high heels followed close behind.
The monster’s eyes had turned pitch black, as if soaked in ink. The intricate patterns around them spread bit by bit, as if vengeful spirits were crawling out, creating a deeply unsettling atmosphere.
A dead silence radiated outward, layer upon layer, crashing toward Van Li.
At that moment, he felt his body grow cold, thin ice forming even on his limbs, as if trying to freeze him in place.
“Run!”
That was Van Li’s only thought.
Just as the ice spread near his head, Van Li plunged into the darkness. But exerting so much force, he stumbled and fell to the ground.
Everything here was completely different from outside.
Hanging corpses, peeling walls, and a choking stench like rust—all intertwined to form a terrifying net that wrapped tightly around a person.
A small, thin hand landed on Van Li’s shoulder. Elly had found him. Driven by affection, she stopped fighting the Butcher and chose to check on her master.
Half a meter away—the absolute safe zone!
At that very moment, Van Li felt the oppressive weight lift, and his furrowed brow relaxed.
“Clack...”
Footsteps sounded behind him but only took one step. The monster, clearly affected by what it saw, hesitated.
Van Li breathed deeply, stood up, and casually brushed the dust off his clothes.
Once everything was settled, he slowly turned around, gently running his hand through Elly’s hair. With a calm expression, he faced the monster’s grotesque, vacant face and said in a low voice, “Welcome to the Inner World!”
