Volume One, Chapter 100: Fate
Song Qingyu took out her phone and was about to call Gu Yandong when Pei Jingmo caught her hand.
“Xie Liuzheng is an artist under Fanhai Entertainment. After I got your call, I already contacted Mr. Fu.”
Even so, Pei Jingmo had immediately ordered Guo Rang to check the surveillance footage.
“Xiaoyu—”
Fu Linhan came rushing over in a bathrobe, with Xie Liuzheng beside him.
After hearing the noises from the bathroom, Xie Liuzheng had been so furious she had nearly torn the entire hotel apart.
Those cries had been far too fake. It was obviously all an act.
Not long after, Fu Linhan hurried out of the bathroom. As if realizing something, Xie Liuzheng deliberately asked, “Mr. Fu, what happened?”
“Xie Liuzheng is missing.”
“Oh? How could a living person just disappear?”
Fu Linhan was in no mood to deal with her. “I’m going to find her. Is Miss Lu staying here?”
Lu Rongrong glanced toward the bathroom. “Yandong isn’t going?”
“Xie Liuzheng is an artist under my company. What would Dongzi be going for?”
Lu Rongrong sneered inwardly. Did he really think she didn’t know what Gu Yandong was thinking?
Wasn’t he just afraid she would suspect something, so he forced himself to stay away, yet couldn’t rest easy and sent Fu Linhan instead?
It didn’t matter. Seeing it with Fu Linhan would be the same.
“I’ll go with you.”
She wanted to see the wretched end of that shameless woman, Xie Liuzheng.
The manager soon came running over in a panic.
When the heir personally ordered the surveillance checked and the person found, who would dare slow down?
But on the footage, there was only Xie Liuzheng stumbling out of the bar while someone chased after her.
When Guo Rang found the two men in the garden outside, they were stripped naked and tied to a tree.
The other party had been ruthless enough not only to take off their clothes, but also to douse them completely with water and gag them there in the freezing cold for two or three hours.
Their bodies had gone numb, and what was between their legs had been ruined beyond use.
Fu Linhan kicked each of them in rage. “Speak! Who took the girl you were chasing?”
The two men knelt on the ground, tears and snot streaming down their faces.
“We don’t know either! The other side moved too fast. Before we could even see clearly, we were knocked unconscious!”
When they woke, they were tied to a tree, crying out until their throats were raw, with no one to hear them.
Hearing that Xie Liuzheng had been drugged and taken away by unknown people, Song Qingyu nearly collapsed.
Pei Jingmo held her steady, letting her lean against his chest. “Find the person first!”
He glanced at Fu Linhan, who cursed under his breath. “Search! Room by room!”
The snow on the mountain was heavy. Whoever had intercepted Xie Liuzheng would probably not risk their lives carrying her down the mountain.
As long as she was still on the mountain, they could find her.
Only, two hours had already passed, and perhaps by now—
Seeing that Song Qingyu would not rest until Xie Liuzheng was found, Pei Jingmo did not persuade her to go back to sleep.
His sharp, cold gaze fell on Lu Rongrong standing to the side.
Lu Rongrong’s face was ugly. She had only meant for someone to ruin Xie Liuzheng, but she had never expected things to develop like this.
Everything had slipped completely beyond her control. She had no idea who had taken Xie Liuzheng.
If the other party had murderous intent and killed Xie Liuzheng, this would be troublesome indeed.
Feeling a piercing stare, she looked over guiltily and saw the man beside Song Qingyu.
But that man wasn’t looking at her.
She had heard that Song Qingyu had a laborer husband. Could this be him?
By midnight, some people had already gone to sleep.
Searching room by room was indeed a huge task, but there was no other way.
After finishing, Shen Zhou stepped out. His two bodyguards said, “Boss, this woman’s identity doesn’t seem simple. The whole hotel is searching for her now.”
Shen Zhou’s expression was faintly satisfied. “Who cares who she is? She tastes pretty good. Let’s go.”
“What about her…”
“Saving her was enough. The rest has nothing to do with us.”
“Yes.”
The three of them left together.
When they reached the elevator, they heard a man call out.
“Xiaoyu—”
Shen Zhou stopped and looked back. He saw a man walking toward a girl in a white down jacket, her face as pale as paper.
So this was that little fish?
She was indeed beautiful.
That damned woman—was she perhaps one of those?
Never mind.
He had already slept with her. What did it matter what she was?
Just as he turned to leave, he suddenly met a pair of deep, dark eyes. Their gazes collided in the air with a strange, fated force.
It lasted only an instant before they looked away, yet it still left an unpleasant feeling behind.
Pei Jingmo watched the man’s retreating back, his brow faintly furrowed.
Chu Xingzhi and Sheng Yuru had been fooling around in the private hot spring until now. When they came out and heard that Xie Liuzheng was missing, they hurried over at once.
Seeing Pei Jingmo holding Song Qingyu the entire time, Chu Xingzhi was filled with jealousy, but he no longer had the right to tell him to let Xiaoyu go.
“Xiaoyu, don’t worry. Zhengzheng has always had good fortune. She’ll be fine.”
Sheng Yuru felt deeply uncomfortable. Just moments ago Chu Xingzhi had been tender with her, but the instant he saw Song Qingyu, there was no room left for anyone else in his eyes.
She gave a displeased snort. “If she hadn’t gone looking for trouble, she wouldn’t be in this mess. Who told her to run off to a bar so late at night? Wasn’t she being careless herself? Why blame others for drugging her?”
Song Qingyu exploded at once. “Get lost!”
“I won’t. If she was drugged and slept with, it’s her own fault. As a celebrity, she doesn’t even have the slightest sense of caution. How did she ever survive in the entertainment world? And you—weren’t you two inseparable? Why didn’t you stay with her when she went to the bar?”
Chu Xingzhi frowned, his face darkening as he pulled her once. “Enough.”
Seeing that Chu Xingzhi was defending Song Qingyu, Sheng Yuru grew even angrier.
“I’m saying it!”
She glanced sideways at Pei Jingmo. “Hmph, let me guess—your husband showed up, and the two of you got all wrapped up in each other and forgot all about Xie Liuzheng, didn’t you? Having a best friend like you is just Xie Liuzheng’s rotten luck.”
Pei Jingmo could tell Song Qingyu was blaming herself. He drew her into his arms and looked coldly at Sheng Yuru.
“If you can’t speak, no one will mistake you for mute.”
Sheng Yuru hated the person beside the object of her dislike as much as she hated Song Qingyu.
“And what are you? How dare you talk to me like that!”
A poor laborer with no money, no power, and no status dared to stand up for Song Qingyu.
Thinking of how Song Qingyu had something unclear with her second cousin, Sheng Yuru gave a cold laugh. “You should keep an eye on your wife. Don’t wait until you’ve been cuckolded and still not know it.”
“Sheng Yuru!” Song Qingyu said coldly. “If you have anything to say, come at me. But if you dare spout nonsense about Zhengzheng and Pei Jingmo again—”
“What? You want to hit me?”
“You can try.”
“Fine, then hit me!”
Sheng Yuru thrust her face toward Song Qingyu. “Go on, hit me. Do you dare?”
Smack.
A heavy slap landed on Sheng Yuru’s face.
But the one who struck her was not Song Qingyu. It was Pei Jingmo, whom no one had expected at all.
Sheng Yuru stared at Pei Jingmo in disbelief, her expression twisting more and more ferociously. “You fucking dare to hit me?”
Pei Jingmo struck the other side of her face as well.
He had no light hand; Sheng Yuru’s cheeks swelled at once.
“This is the first time I’ve heard someone make such a request. If Qingyu were to hit you herself, her hand would hurt. I’m her husband, so I’ll satisfy your wish for her.”
“You’re fucking courting death!”
Sheng Yuru lunged at them. In her panic, Song Qingyu stepped in front of Pei Jingmo. “You dare lay a hand on him!”
“She’s found!”
Fu Linhan’s voice suddenly came from afar. Song Qingyu no longer had time for Sheng Yuru and ran straight over.
Sheng Yuru tried to follow and settle accounts, but Chu Xingzhi grabbed her. “Enough! Aren’t you embarrassed enough already?”
Not only did Chu Xingzhi refuse to help her, he even shouted at her. Sheng Yuru trembled with rage. “Are you blind? That damned laborer hit me first!”
Seeing Song Qingyu and Pei Jingmo defend each other, Chu Xingzhi felt even worse inside and vented all his anger on Sheng Yuru.
“That was your own fault!”
Sheng Yuru burst into tears. “Chu Xingzhi, you bastard!”
