Song Qingyu tried to quietly get up, but Pei Jingmo held her tighter. “Stay still, don’t move.” His voice was low, hoarse, and tired. Song Qingyu thought he must have been exhausted last night.
Carefully, she picked up the fully charged phone from the table and sent a WeChat message to Xie Liuzheng.
“Ahhhh, Zhengzheng, I did it with Pei Jingmo!”
“What? Really? How did it feel? Was it amazing?”
“o(╥﹏╥)o I was drunk; I don’t remember anything.”
“…It’s okay. Men are most energetic in the morning. If you want, you can do it again.”
“But I have no strength left. I can’t just let him do all the work, right?”
“So what? Just enjoy it.”
Xie Liuzheng suddenly asked sharply, “Did Pei Jingmo use a condom?”
“What condom?”
“Of course I mean the one to prevent pregnancy. Don’t tell me you want a child now?”
“No, no, I don’t plan to have kids this early.”
“If he didn’t wear one, don’t forget to take a morning-after pill. Since your body isn’t strong, just one pill is enough, but make sure he uses protection from now on.”
Just as Song Qingyu was about to reply, Pei Jingmo kissed her forehead. “Awake? Still feeling unwell?” She had been moaning in discomfort all night due to a fever.
Song Qingyu quickly put the phone away, her heart racing. No wonder people online said never let your husband see your chats with your best friend. She hadn’t understood before, but now she finally did.
Realizing Pei Jingmo was asking about last night, Song Qingyu blushed and said, “I’m okay, not too bad.”
They say a girl’s first time is usually painful, but she felt nothing—it must have been because Pei Jingmo was gentle.
“Hungry?”
“A little.”
“I’ll make some porridge.”
Pei Jingmo wanted to share a tender moment, but her health was more important.
Hiding behind him shyly, Song Qingyu nodded.
After Pei Jingmo left, she got up to check the floor—there were no used condoms, not even in the trash.
He really didn’t wear one!
Without wasting time, she quickly ordered a morning-after pill.
Song Qingyu didn’t expect the delivery to be so fast. While brushing her teeth, she heard the doorbell and first thought it was Pei Jingmo.
Then she realized what it must be and ran out.
But she was too late. Pei Jingmo had already opened the door, taken the package from the delivery person, and even peeked inside.
Song Qingyu was struck dumb, frozen in place.
After closing the door, Pei Jingmo came over holding the pill. “Did you buy this?”
Song Qingyu, who was usually quick-witted, suddenly found herself at a loss for words.
But thinking about their marriage, there was nothing she couldn’t say. She braced herself and said, “You didn’t wear a condom last night, so I need to take a pill.”
Pei Jingmo raised an eyebrow. “Last night? A condom?”
Song Qingyu blushed harder. Was he pretending not to know? “Just this once. You can’t skip it from now on.”
She quickly grabbed the pillbox to check if it should be taken before or after meals.
Seeing no instructions, she took out a pill and was about to swallow it when Pei Jingmo caught her hand and pressed a hand to his forehead, smiling. “We didn’t do anything last night. You don’t need the pill.”
“Ah?” Song Qingyu was stunned.
Pei Jingmo pulled her to the dining table. “I’m curious—how did you conclude that we did?”
“I had no strength at all, and my back and waist hurt.”
“That’s because you had a fever and drank wine, tossing and turning most of the night.”
Song Qingyu’s mouth dropped open in surprise. “What? I had a fever?”
Pei Jingmo affectionately rubbed her nose. “You didn’t even realize you had a fever and still drank a whole bottle of wine. What if something had happened?”
Song Qingyu was dumbfounded for a long time, realizing she had made a huge mistake this morning and wished she could bury herself in a hole.
Since it was the weekend, Song Qingyu didn’t have to work, but Pei Jingmo had to go out.
Sitting on the sofa, Song Qingyu called Xie Liuzheng on video and shared the morning’s embarrassing story.
But Xie Liuzheng seemed distracted, her eyes constantly drifting to the left.
“Zhengzheng, is someone with you?”
“Oh, it’s a fan. Xiaoyu, I can’t talk now. I’ll come see you another day.”
“Okay~”
After hanging up, Song Qingyu suddenly remembered she forgot to ask if Xie Liuzheng had found the owner of the Four-Faced Buddha pendant.
At that moment, the pendant’s owner sat right beside Xie Liuzheng. He wore a black wool coat, legs crossed on the sofa, exuding the air of a sovereign looking down on the world.
That night, Xie Liuzheng hadn’t seen his face clearly. Now, face to face, she realized he was a handsome man with a dark, chilly charm.
He was tall, about the same height as Pei Jingmo.
Wearing black earrings, his gaze was cold and commanding.

Even just the simple act of smoking was irresistibly sexy.
Their eyes met, making her knees weak.
“Give it here.”
The man spoke coldly, his voice deep and alluring, causing Xie Liuzheng’s heart to race.
He had a very elegant name—Shen Zhou.
Only daylight, no night; always bright.
Feigning ignorance, she asked, “What?”
Shen Zhou smiled slightly, but his eyes were icy. “The Four-Faced Buddha pendant. I know you have it.”
Xie Liuzheng knew he was her savior and shouldn’t selfishly keep his possession.
But she was painfully aware that if she gave up the pendant, she might never cross paths with Shen Zhou again.
She hesitated.
“I’ve never seen any Four-Faced Buddha pendant.”
“Hmph—”
Shen Zhou rose and approached Xie Liuzheng, slightly leaning down to cast her completely within his shadow.
He lifted her chin and blew smoke in her face with a wicked smile. “Woman, if I hadn’t saved you that night, you’d have been violated. And this is how you repay me?”
His bluntness made Xie Liuzheng’s face pale and flushed in turn.
Feeling overwhelmed, she stammered, “Is the pendant very important to you?”
“None of your business.”
Xie Liuzheng bit her lip. “I can give you the pendant, but can you promise me one thing?”
Shen Zhou said nothing, just stared intently. Xie Liuzheng’s scalp tingled as she reluctantly handed over the pendant she had carried for days.
Taking it, Shen Zhou coldly said, “I despise greedy women. You have no right to demand anything from me.”
He flicked his coat and left directly.
Xie Liuzheng wanted to chase after him but was blocked by his bodyguard.
Frustrated, she said, “I just want to add you on WeChat.”
He left without a glance back, just like that night.
From now on, would she never see him again?
