After Zhao Meng and Qin Yu decided to head to S City, they immediately began packing their belongings—or rather, it was Zhao Meng alone bustling about while Qin Yu simply stood there, dazed, watching her.

Once everything was packed, Zhao Meng turned to Qin Yu and asked, “Xiao Yu, can you carry this bag?” As she spoke, she picked up a woman’s purse—one of those small ones—while she herself shouldered a large travel bag.

Qin Yu looked at the tiny bag in Zhao Meng’s hand, saying nothing, but her entire demeanor radiated reluctance.

Zhao Meng offered a sheepish smile. “Haha, I was just teasing you! Here, this is for you.” With that, she handed Qin Yu a small travel backpack that had been by her feet.

Qin Yu took the bag silently, her gaze fixed on Zhao Meng.

“It’s a pity the backpacks are too small to fit everything. All those comics I collected for so long… what a shame,” Zhao Meng lamented.

“Xiao Yu! Let’s go conquer the world!” Zhao Meng declared, her eyes bright with determination as she looked at Qin Yu.

“Idiot,” Qin Yu muttered, striding out of the room.

“Hey, Xiao Yu, wait for me!” Zhao Meng’s bravado instantly deflated as she scrambled after her.

Neither of them noticed that as Zhao Meng dashed after Qin Yu, everything in the room vanished without a trace.

By the time Qin Yu and Zhao Meng had forced their way down the stairwell, both were covered in dust and grime. Heaven knew why there were so many zombies in their building! But the most baffling part was Xiao Yu’s supernatural power—Zhao Meng could barely look at it without cringing. That tiny little jet of water… it was almost painful to see.

Luckily, her own fire ability seemed rather formidable; one fireball and a zombie was gone without a trace. Still, since when did Xiao Yu have such skill with her hands? And that deadly knife of hers—each strike was precise and lethal. Impressive.

The stronger they became, the better their chances of survival in this apocalypse. Zhao Meng knew this wasn’t a game; it was a race—against zombies, against time.

She remembered Qin Yu had a modified car. There was no way to reach S City without a vehicle, so they headed to the parking lot, retrieved the car, and thus began their true journey through the end of the world.

“Xiao Yu! Left! Take that one out—nice! You’re amazing! Go, go, go!” Zhao Meng’s voice echoed across the vast square.

A group of people nearby exchanged helpless glances. Did that woman not realize shouting so loudly would attract more zombies? And how could she just stand there letting another young woman do all the zombie-killing? But then, that girl was terrifyingly fierce—one swipe, one kill. They almost felt sorry for the zombies… No, no, what were they thinking!

Suddenly, the girl doing the killing glanced over at them. That look made them feel as if they were the zombies. A collective shiver ran through the group—terrifying. Mother, I want to go home… tears!

Zhao Meng frowned at the leering men, then looked at Qin Yu. She decided it was best to make this quick, so she jumped into the fight as well.

Everyone watched as the woman who had been shouting moments ago suddenly hurled fireballs from left and right, each one landing squarely on a shambling zombie—every throw a direct hit. Oddly, the group found themselves thinking of some silly dance move: “Left hand, right hand, a slow motion…”

When Qin Yu and Zhao Meng finished dealing with the zombies and were about to leave, someone called out to them.

“Ladies, please wait! My name is Wang Bing. May I have the honor of meeting such skilled warriors?”

Zhao Meng rolled her eyes at the overly formal man in front of her; his flowery words made her teeth ache.

If Wang Bing knew what she was thinking, he would probably cry—after all, their heroic bearing really did resemble legendary heroes!

“Come on. You, too. With us,” Qin Yu said, glancing at the group.

Zhao Meng was a bit surprised, but respected Qin Yu’s decision. No matter the circumstances, she had always believed Qin Yu’s choices were the right ones.

Wang Bing and his companions were overjoyed and quickly fell in line behind Qin Yu.

As it turned out, Wang Bing and his friends were all former soldiers. They had come to B City after hearing that a bodyguard company was recruiting. Who could have predicted things would turn out like this?

Thinking of those creatures that were no longer human, Wang Bing sighed. He wondered how humanity would ever survive this catastrophe…
