Qin Yu walked over and gave the man a kick. He let out a groan, frowning faintly.

Crouching down, she asked, "Dead yet?"

She had not really expected an answer, so she curled her lip in boredom.

Who would have thought that at that very moment, the man would suddenly open his eyes? A faint, extremely weak smile touched his lips as he said, "Not yet."

Qin Yu was startled. "You’re awake?"

The man said, "Woman, where is this place? It reeks so badly. Get rid of this smell at once, or else—"

Qin Yu twitched at the corner of her mouth. So he had been woken by the stench. Well, that made sense; probably not many people could endure it. Unfortunately, she did not seem to have any way to remove the smell.

Thinking that over, she said, "Sorry, man. I can’t get rid of it. You’ll just have to endure it slowly." As she spoke, she deliberately kicked him again.

That kick nearly sent the man unconscious once more. He glared at Qin Yu, who was grinning so insolently, and said, "Heh. Don’t let me find a chance to catch you."

Qin Yu rolled her eyes with no trace of manners and said, "I’ll be waiting."

Inside, though, she was already thinking smugly: by the time you’re able to catch me, I’ll already have found Tao. Then let’s see whether you still dare threaten me. Hmph.

Qin Yu waved him off. "That’s that, then. You can keep breathing in that stink. I’m leaving."

The man nearly lost his breath at that. Looking at Qin Yu, a trace of displeasure flashed in his eyes.

Unfortunately, Qin Yu did not care in the slightest. She patted the petals of the small flower that was swaying beside her and said, "Keep a good eye on this man. Don’t let him damage the space. I’ll bring you a reward next time I come!"

The little flower nodded its flower head to show it understood. Then it cheerfully swayed its body and bade Qin Yu farewell.

Qin Yu smiled at the sight, waved goodbye, and disappeared from the space.

After she left, Little Red emerged from some unknown corner and said irritably, "I knew this master wasn’t reliable. She didn’t even ask where Little Green and I went. Hmph."

Little Daze looked at Little Red, then at the man who was lying there with his eyes shut and his teeth clenched. It bounced a couple of times, then drew a huge circle around the man. When it was done, it even swayed and waved its petals as if celebrating.

The man also noticed Little Daze’s movement, but he did not pay it any mind. It was only a circle, after all—could that possibly restrain him?

What he did not know was that, in the future, in order to get out of that circle, he would pay a very heavy price. For now, however, he only dismissed it with utter contempt.

Fortunately, Little Daze did not know what he was thinking, or it would certainly have lashed him with a petal and knocked him unconscious again.

Little Red was, in fact, a little surprised by the circle Little Daze had drawn, but it said nothing. After all, what did it have to do with it? Besides, it rather wanted to see this arrogant man groveling and begging in misery someday.

Mm. Following the master really had made it a little wicked, hadn’t it? In that case, the next time the master came in, should it give her a little punishment? After all, she had ignored Little Green and it.

Little Green, coiled around Little Red’s body, seemed to sense its thoughts. It rubbed against its neck, as if comforting it. Little Red touched the little green thing around its neck. It had clearly shrunk quite a bit compared to before, and a trace of tenderness flashed through its eyes. It slowly wandered over to Little Daze’s side and lay down, beginning to doze.

Sensing a familiar scent near its body, Little Daze kindly released its fragrance, blocking the harsh stench lingering in the space. That drew a small smile to Little Red’s lips.

On the other side, the man also caught that faint fragrance, as if it might disperse the odor in the space. He tried to inch over toward it. But that move happened to press against the line of the circle. With a jolt, the man fainted once again, and his body returned to its original position.

Little Daze shook its petals. If it had had an expression at that moment, it would probably have looked something like this.

In any case, a strangely peaceful harmony settled over the space.

Meanwhile, after Qin Yu left the space, she hurried to the bedroom and took a shower, because she felt as though the smell clinging to her was about to knock her unconscious. To avoid that outcome, it was better to wash herself clean and fragrant first.

It had to be said that the villa’s environment was much better than outside. At the very least, there was electricity and running water here, enough to guarantee normal use. At that moment, Qin Yu was profoundly grateful that she had chosen that mission back then.

Yet while she was soaking in the bathtub, she felt a faint pain all over her body, as though her skin had been irritated by something. Qin Yu lifted her hand and saw that it was already red and swollen.

Frowning, she quickly got up and used her water ability to rinse her body.

This time, Qin Yu watched as the originally swollen areas became smooth, fair, and soft. Her eyes flashed with shock.

Suddenly, she remembered something Tao had once told her: never use her water ability on other people.

Looking at her current condition, she felt as though she might be beginning to understand why.

Qin Yu had always known that her water ability was different from everyone else’s. She had always assumed that her power was weaker than others’. Perhaps in the early days of the apocalypse, water ability could be considered a treasure, but in the later stages, once the nation could supply water normally again, water ability was little more than half-useless. That was also why she had been abandoned in her previous life.

But now it seemed that her water ability might have other uses after all.

Thinking of that, Qin Yu’s mood immediately brightened considerably.

She could hardly wait to test whether her guess was correct.

Qin Yu quickly dressed and went downstairs. Seeing the people seated in the hall, she said, "Xiao Meng, Xia Cheng, Nangong Yao, come to my room for a moment. I have something to discuss with you."

After speaking, she hurried back upstairs.

The others were left looking at one another. Zhao Meng twitched at the corner of her mouth and turned to ask, "Has Xiao Yu gone all lovestruck?"

One could not really blame her for saying that. Qin Yu’s flushed, radiant face from just now was truly a rare sight.

The others, hearing Zhao Meng say that, looked thoughtful. Could their boss really have gone all lovestruck? That made sense, too—after all, she was a woman, and she had reached that age. Sigh.

"All right, Qin Yu told us to come to her room. We’ll know once we get there. Let’s go," Xia Cheng said, patting Zhao Meng on the head.

Zhao Meng nodded, then said to Nangong Yao, "Xiao Yao, let’s go?"

Nangong Yao nodded and went upstairs first. Zhao Meng and Xia Cheng followed after him.

The hall suddenly became lively, everyone secretly speculating whether their boss really had fallen head over heels. The discussion soon drifted off into other topics.

So it was true after all: everyone had a heart for gossip.
