After leaving Qian Xiao, Qin Yu hurried to Qing Li’s villa because she had received news that the Rat King, who had been confined for several days, had awakened and was incessantly demanding to see her.

Reluctantly, she bade farewell to Qian Xiao and went to meet the Rat King. More than anything, she was curious about him.

Entering a room in the villa, Qin Yu saw the Rat King standing arrogantly atop a perfectly square desk. Upon noticing her, he immediately scurried to her feet, rubbing against her affectionately and saying, “You’re here!”

Qin Yu found his eagerness a bit overwhelming but refrained from any harsh reaction. She regarded the little creature’s closeness with a cautious heart.

Squatting down, Qin Yu picked up the Rat King and placed him back on the desk. Throughout these motions, he did not resist; instead, he rubbed against her even more fervently.

She patted his head and asked, “Have you broken through?”

The Rat King nodded vigorously, his face brimming with excitement. “Yes, yes, yes! Master! I’ve decided to follow you from now on!”

Qin Yu smiled, gently stroking his tiny paws. “Following me means you have to work, you know.”

The Rat King found this reasonable, but after some thought, he felt he had nothing to offer the master. With a crestfallen expression, he said despondently, “Master, I don’t seem to know anything.”

Qin Yu didn’t believe him for a moment. As an immortal rat, how could he be so ordinary? A gleam flashed in her eyes as she rubbed his back. “You don’t know anything? That’s truly a pity.”

Hearing her regretful tone, the corners of the Rat King’s mouth drooped. His once lustrous fur, bright from excitement upon seeing Qin Yu, dulled noticeably.

He lowered his head, racking his brain to recall what he could do for his master. Qin Yu casually pulled over a chair and sat down, watching the contemplative Rat King with a gentle smile.

Time passed slowly. Qin Yu waited patiently until the Rat King suddenly lifted his head, tapped the desk with his little paw, and with shining bright eyes exclaimed, “Master, I know what I can do!”

Qin Yu raised an eyebrow, signaling him to continue.

The Rat King chuckled shyly. “Master, I can be cute! I can cheer you up when you’re unhappy!”

Qin Yu thought, what nonsense! After all that pondering, this was his answer? What use was he to her? Being cute? She felt amused and exasperated at the same time.

The Rat King looked cautiously at Qin Yu, silently lamenting to himself that he really knew nothing. Protected by family in his clan before, he never had to worry about anything. His father and mother hadn’t taught him much either, which explained his incompetence.

Who would have thought he’d end up in such a predicament upon leaving? He whimpered inside, yearning to go home. But then he recalled that there probably weren’t any delicious ores there anymore. Thinking of the tasty minerals he had eaten a few days ago, the Rat King’s mouth began to produce suspicious drool.

Qin Yu, watching him, could only feel even more speechless.

“Master, you can place him inside the space. This little fellow should have a bloodline inheritance, but external impurities kept him from awakening. Inside the space, he has a great chance to awaken. When that happens, he’ll be a tremendous help to you!” Xiao Huahua’s voice suddenly echoed in Qin Yu’s mind. The words made her glance again at the Rat King, who looked like a lovestruck fool.

Qin Yu picked up the tiny Rat King and said, “I’m taking you somewhere. You must train seriously, understand?”

The Rat King was confused; how could he train without any cultivation method? But wisely, he chose to say nothing, maintaining his blank expression.

Qin Yu looked at the dazed Rat King with helplessness. On impulse, she pinched him and entered the space.

As soon as she entered, a strong gust of wind rushed toward her. She immediately held the Rat King tightly, dodging instinctively.

Standing firm, Qin Yu scanned the space but found nothing suspicious. She frowned, wondering what that obvious attack had been—definitely not a hallucination!

“Old Master, you’re here! Where’s the new master?” Little Red slowly emerged, wagging her tail.

Qin Yu patted the clearly frightened Rat King and then asked Little Red, “He’s in seclusion. Little Red, you’ve been in the space all along. Has anything suspicious happened inside?”

Little Red lazily sprawled on the ground, glanced at Qin Yu, and replied casually, “Nope! This space is just as usual, only greener than before. Nothing else.”

Qin Yu’s doubts temporarily eased. She crouched and placed the Rat King before Little Red. “This is your new companion. His name is Rat King. You two must get along well.”

Little Red’s tail lazily flicked the Rat King as she said, “Rat King? The name sounds tough, but his build is so weak!”

The Rat King trembled at the sight of the cat before him. Oh no! There’s a cat! I’m going to be eaten! He wailed continuously. Though their race had long transcended the mortal realm, he was still a rat at heart, unable to shake his fear of cats. Besides, the so-called immortal realm still had cats—and those were ferocious!

Qin Yu saw the quivering Rat King and said to Little Red, “Don’t scare him.”

Little Red rolled her eyes at Qin Yu, thinking she had no interest in frightening the little guy. It was obvious he was scared because she was currently in cat form. But she wasn’t truly a cat! Hmph, wait until I reveal my true form and give them a shock! Imagining their future awe, Little Red couldn’t help but feel smug.

Her pride showed as she wagged her tail even more vigorously against the Rat King.

Qin Yu, seeing Little Red’s playful grin, smiled helplessly. This one was definitely lost in her own world again. She freed the Rat King from under Little Red’s tail and, seeing his utterly dejected expression, couldn’t help but laugh.

She stroked his head gently. “Don’t worry, she won’t harm you. From now on, you’re partners. You must get along well.”

The Rat King glanced at Qin Yu, then at the cheerful Little Red. His expression grew even more pitiful. Partners with a cat? I’d rather go back and marry Sweet Sweet! He continued wallowing in despair, only to be instantly uplifted by Qin Yu’s next words.

“There’s the ore you like there. You can enjoy it, but remember not to overindulge and damage your veins.”

The Rat King immediately perked up, staring toward the distance. Oh my, I’ve hit the jackpot! This is huge! Overjoyed, he no longer cared about the cat and darted away in a flash. Delicious treats, here I come!

Qin Yu watched the Rat King’s excited retreat and smiled. Then she picked up Little Red, lowering her head so her expression was obscured as she whispered, “I know you’ve awakened. Come out.”
