After playing for a while with the two adorable creatures, Qin Yu decided to leave the space. As for that man, she made it clear she was entirely ignoring him.

The moment she exited the space, she sensed the presence of someone in her room. Tensing up, she gripped her dagger tightly and looked towards the only spot illuminated by light.

There sat Nangong Yao on a stool, holding a pale green porcelain wine jug, idly swirling it in his hand. He showed no surprise at Qin Yu’s sudden appearance; instead, he raised the jug and smiled, “Care to share a drink?”

Qin Yu stared at him, her voice low. “How much do you know?”

Nangong Yao shook his head and replied, “I know what I should know, and I don’t know what I shouldn’t. That’s all there is.”

Qin Yu’s expression was full of disbelief, which amused Nangong Yao. He set the wine jug aside, held his stomach, and burst into laughter, leaving Qin Yu bewildered.

After a while, he wiped the tears from his eyes and said, “There’s no need to be so tense. I won’t do anything to you.”

Qin Yu remained wary, watching him. This man was too unpredictable; she couldn’t tell which side of him was real.

Nangong Yao was not angered by her vigilance. He slowly poured himself a cup, took a small sip, and smiled, “Are you sure you don’t want a taste? This is fine wine I’ve kept for ages. I only bring it out when I’m truly happy.”

Qin Yu shook her head, her gaze never leaving him.

He finished his drink and finally spoke, “You’re not a spatial ability user, are you?”

A flash of cold determination crossed Qin Yu’s eyes, and her grip on the dagger tightened. She stared straight at Nangong Yao.

“Qin Yu, your space comes from a jade pendant, doesn’t it? Or perhaps, half a jade pendant?” There was clear interest in Nangong Yao’s eyes.

“I don’t understand what you’re talking about,” Qin Yu replied in a deep voice.

“Haha, no need to be so nervous. I can’t take it from you. The pendant has already recognized you as its master. No matter what powers I have, there’s nothing I can do.” Nangong Yao shrugged, wearing an expression of helplessness.

But Qin Yu clearly didn’t believe him. She stepped back, smiling, “Little Yao, I really don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s late; time to rest.”

Nangong Yao stared at her, asking, “Don’t you want to know where the other half of the jade pendant is? You should know that only a complete pendant reveals the space’s true magnificence—a dazzling little world. Don’t you want to see it?”

Qin Yu suddenly laughed, leaving Nangong Yao puzzled. Had he said something funny?

With a faint smile, Qin Yu said, “Nangong Yao, I don’t know why you claim my spatial ability comes from a half jade pendant, nor do I want to know about the so-called dazzling space you speak of. I only know that it’s late, and unless you want to stay here with me for some reason, I suggest you leave.” She glanced meaningfully at Nangong Yao’s figure.

At her last words, Nangong Yao seemed to think of something; his face flushed bright red. He hurriedly threw out, “Check the bud in your palm,” before vanishing from the room.

Qin Yu watched the scene, squinting with a smile. It seemed that matters between men and women were truly this man’s weakness.

But what did his last words mean? The bud in her palm?

Qin Yu opened her right hand and found that the flower bud, once faint in color and barely visible, had deepened significantly.

The bud sat conspicuously at the center of her palm. Qin Yu’s gaze darkened. How did Nangong Yao know about the bud in her hand? She had never exposed it to anyone.

Rubbing her hair, she sat on the bed, head bowed in deep thought.

That night was destined to be another sleepless one.

The next day, Qin Yu appeared with dark circles under her eyes. Zhao Meng looked at her, curious and concerned. “Xiao Yu, what happened? Why do you look so tired? Did you have a romantic dream?”

Qin Yu shot her a glare. “Xiao Meng, I’m just a lonely soul. Unlike you, who are basking in sweetness. Don’t mock me.”

Zhao Meng’s cheeks reddened slightly; she put her hands on her hips with a huff, but said no more. Xia Cheng ruffled Zhao Meng’s hair and grinned at Qin Yu, “We’re just sweet, Boss. You can envy us all you want, haha.”

Qin Yu ignored Xia Cheng, quietly eating her breakfast. Xia Cheng, seeing his joke fall flat, touched his nose and smiled sheepishly, saying nothing more.

When Nangong Yao arrived at the breakfast table, he was met with a group of silent faces. He chuckled, tossing his hair with narcissistic flair, “What’s wrong? Are you all so sad you haven’t seen your immortal lord? You’re all so lifeless—tsk tsk, seems you really can’t do without me.”

Qin Yu looked up at his self-absorbed display, her gaze deepening. This Nangong Yao was a world apart from last night. Which was his true self?

Zhao Meng, hearing his words, rolled her eyes. “Little Yao, you’re so vain! It doesn’t suit your style at all!”

The moment she said it, Nangong Yao dropped his playful smile and adopted an elegant demeanor, then replied with a smile, “And what style do you think I have?”

Zhao Meng was stunned by the speed of his transformation. Honestly, his ability to change faces was too quick.

Seeing Zhao Meng dumbstruck, Nangong Yao added, “Xiao Meng, you look so silly! Hahaha!”

Zhao Meng was exasperated. Who was this man? She didn’t know him! Someone take him away! Hmph—she was the smartest, after all!

Qin Yu watched their interaction in silence, a faint smile curving her lips. Nangong Yao was quite amusing, wasn’t he?

“I’m full,” Tao’s indifferent voice rang out in the room, startling Nangong Yao. “Full? But I haven’t eaten yet! Boo hoo, Xiao Yu, Xiao Meng, you’re bullying me!”

The other four exchanged looks.

Can’t you be serious for once? What’s with that bashful tone? Ugh!

Nangong Yao glanced at their expressions, lifted his head in a haughty gesture, declaring that mere mortals could never understand the heart of an immortal like him! Hmph—the food wasn’t tasty at all! Not tasty!

Though Nangong Yao tried to convince himself, his gulping throat betrayed his true feelings.

The group finished breakfast in awkward silence, and ahead of them awaited new challenges.
