Bonus Chapter One Hundred and Two: You Are the Only Suitable Chief Executive
Wen Shuang was very fond of Madam Ning. Whenever she had the time, she would go to visit her.
The two of them would sit in the courtyard, drinking tea and admiring the flowers.
They seemed like friends despite the years between them.
Ning Su would also make time to watch Wen Shuang’s dance productions. The first time she saw her perform, she was struck by the power of Wen Shuang’s dancing. So young, yet already so extraordinarily expressive onstage.
She was in no way inferior to the ballet productions Ning Su had watched abroad.
She was absolutely made to be a principal dancer.
After watching Wen Shuang’s famous performance in Out Beyond the Frontier, Ning Su was moved. “Shuangshuang, you’re amazing. Your parents must be so proud of you!”
She had specially prepared a huge bouquet of bright, radiant flowers for Wen Shuang.
Touched, Wen Shuang hugged Ning Su. “Thank you, Madam Ning!”
Ever since she had joined the dance troupe, Wen Fanhai still had not once come to watch one of her productions, let alone bring her flowers.
During this time, she had felt a long-lost warmth of family in Ning Su.
It was as if the mother in her memories had felt exactly like this.
Over those three months, Wen Shuang’s outstanding performances made her unmatched within the troupe.
By now, almost no one else in the company could take the female lead in a major production.
In truth, the other dancers were not bad; after all, they had all graduated from professional academies. But once they danced the same role as Wen Shuang, the difference was glaring.
Wen Shuang was not merely beautiful in the face; her figure was also top-tier within the troupe.
The whole of her seemed born for dance.
And once she began to dance, her bearing and emotion reached a depth that others could not achieve in the short term.
Even when Out Beyond the Frontier went on tour, they had once swapped Xia Anran in to dance.
But the shows she performed in did not sell nearly as well.
There was even one occasion when the troupe had not announced the cast change in advance. When the audience realized it was not Wen Shuang, they shouted for refunds.
It nearly drove Xia Anran mad.
The position of principal had always remained vacant.
After unanimous discussion, the company decided to appoint Wen Shuang as the troupe’s principal.
The director summoned Wen Shuang to the office and told her that starting next month, she would officially take the post, and that a principal ceremony would be held then.
Wen Shuang was not surprised. The news had been circulating for quite some time, and she had been prepared. Besides, she had confidence in herself; she truly was now the one in the entire troupe with the greatest qualifications and ability to be principal.
“Director, I won’t let down your expectations, or those of the deputy director and Director Su!”
“Xiao Shuang, do your best. We all have great faith in you.”
With Wen Shuang’s level, if she kept this up, within two years she would definitely become a nationally recognized dancer. Perhaps, given how popular she already was, she might even break into the overseas market and help carry Chinese traditional dance dramas abroad.
After the dancers heard the news, they all came to congratulate Wen Shuang.
Now she was the biggest star in the company, and many people flattered her whenever they could.
Wen Shuang accepted everyone’s congratulations with neither arrogance nor self-effacement.
A female dancer who often performed the same dance drama with her said, “Sister Shuang, when you become principal next month, don’t forget to treat us to a meal!”
Yao Qianqian added, “Exactly, exactly. Sister Shuang has to treat us to something good. Otherwise how could she be our future principal?”
Wen Shuang smiled and tapped her on the forehead. “Don’t worry. You can pick the place when the time comes. I’ll pay.”
After all, she now had plenty of money in her little private stash.
Eighty million. She could eat wherever she wanted.
Xia Anran’s face was full of jealousy.
She had also worked hard for this principal role, even pressuring the troupe through the Xia family.
But ever since Xia Hanyan returned, things like that were no longer allowed. He said that dancing should rely on one’s own strength, and that always resorting to underhanded tricks was wrong.
Xia Anran gave a cold snort. “What’s so great about it? Isn’t it just because of a man?”
Wen Shuang lifted her eyes. “Then tell me, who am I relying on?”
“Who else? Obviously Officer Ji!” Xia Anran sneered. “If you hadn’t latched onto that towering big shot of an officer, do you think you could have sat in the principal’s seat?”
“So you’re not convinced.”
Wen Shuang immediately took off her coat. “Fine, Xia Anran. If you’re not convinced, then let’s compare our figure, our skill, and see exactly who is better!”
Hearing this, Xia Anran turned away.
“Who has time to waste competing with you!”
“Go call the director, the deputy director, and Director Su right now. Or call the whole troupe if you want. We can go straight onto the stage and compare our repertoire, our technique, and our fundamentals, to see who exactly is lacking!”
What Wen Shuang hated most was having her professional ability questioned.
When Yao Qianqian heard this, she said loudly, “Fine! Xia Anran, if you’re dissatisfied, then compete openly and fairly with Wen Shuang. It’s not like you’ll lose a piece of flesh.”
The others also wanted to see clearly what the difference between Xia Anran and Wen Shuang really was.
Once they were onstage, Wen Shuang unsurprisingly crushed Xia Anran in every respect.
Not only were her techniques exceptional, allowing her to rise to her feet with the instep of her foot, but her sense of dance was also extraordinarily strong and full of charm. With just a few movements, she made it seem as though the audience had been drawn into a living scene.
By contrast, Xia Anran was clearly inferior to Wen Shuang in flexibility, strength, and dance feeling alike.
This time, Wen Shuang truly became the principal by right.
And her ability was there for all to see.
The entire auditorium broke into applause.
The director said solemnly, “Wen Shuang, with your ability and technique, this principal position is yours and yours alone!”
This time, the entire troupe was fully convinced. With this level, how could it possibly be due to a man? It had to be her own ability. On the contrary, if Xia Anran had taken the principal’s seat, they would have suspected some sort of backroom manipulation.
Xia Anran’s face darkened as though coated with soot.
Quite a few people even sneered at her in secret for overestimating herself.
She was already not as strong as Wen Shuang, and yet she still tried day after day to smear her name.
A large crowd immediately came forward to congratulate Wen Shuang.
Wen Shuang was also very happy, and when she got home she shared the news with Ji Shen.
Ji Shen raised a brow. “That impressive, Teacher Wen? You’re becoming principal next month!”
“Of course~”
“Come on. I’m taking you somewhere good to eat!”
Since Wen Shuang was becoming principal, Ji Shen felt honored as well.
Casually, he showed off to his friends as well.
Yu Tian: Shuangmei is amazing! She is definitely a future dance star!
Zhou Fang: Congratulations, congratulations. While you’re at it, ask Shuangmei whether she has any equally outstanding girl friends around her. Introduce one to me too!
......
Wen Shuang’s principal ceremony was fast approaching.
That afternoon, on her way to the theater, a motorcycle came straight at her from not far away and rammed toward her!
Wen Shuang hurriedly dodged, only for the motorcycle not to brake at all, but instead accelerate!
In the whirling chaos,
Wen Shuang felt a searing pain shoot through both her legs!
