Wen Shuang Beats Xia Anran to a Pulp!
“Brother Qin!”
Xia Anran cried out in displeasure, “If Auntie is hurt, my little uncle can go to her. Why are you going?”
Only then did Qin You stop in his instinctive stride.
Yet his eyes still betrayed his anxiety and concern.
That hit on Wen Shuang had really looked painful.
Ji Shen helped Wen Shuang up, his brows drawn tight. “Are you all right?”
“It’s nothing serious.”
Wen Shuang rose with a hand pressed to her chest. That shot from Xia Anran had been vicious indeed, aimed straight at her chest, giving her no time to react.
Xia Anran put on an innocent face. “Auntie, are you okay? I really didn’t mean it just now. I got too caught up in the game and couldn’t hold back my strength.”
Ji Shen swept her with a cold, sharp gaze. “Did you really not mean it?”
Startled by his look, Xia Anran still stubbornly insisted it had been an accident.
Wen Shuang nodded, her eyes falling to the badminton racket. “Fine, then. Let’s continue.”
“Auntie, it’s wonderful that you understand and don’t blame me.”
Xia Anran lifted the corners of her eyes smugly. She wanted Wen Shuang to suffer in silence. That was what made it satisfying.
She had taken the edge off Wen Shuang’s pride.
The thought made her inwardly delighted.
Without another word, Wen Shuang served. With a sharp crack, the shuttlecock struck Xia Anran square on the forehead. The force was heavy; the spot reddened almost instantly.
“Ah! What are you doing!”
Clutching her head, Xia Anran stumbled back several steps.
Wen Shuang swung her racket lightly. “Sorry. I’m rather strong, and I didn’t rein it in in time. Miss Xia, you wouldn’t mind, would you?”
Ji Shen could not help curling his lips.
He liked this side of her best, this way of repaying in kind.
If she was bullied, she struck back at once.
Xia Anran bit down hard.
She knew Wen Shuang had done it on purpose. With a huff, she threw down her racket and declared she didn’t want to play anymore.
Wen Shuang said again, “Oh? So you’re such a poor loser. One accidental hit and you can’t take it. No wonder you’re a pampered heiress, without the slightest sense of sportsmanship.”
Xia Anran could never stand being provoked. “Fine, then! Who’s afraid of you!”
Yu Tian and Zhou Fang came in after finishing their games in another hall, and the first thing they saw was Xia Anran being utterly massacred by Wen Shuang.
Rather than playing badminton, Wen Shuang looked as if she were simply beating Xia Anran.
Every shuttlecock flew straight at her body.
She did not even spare her face.
Xia Anran wanted to hit Wen Shuang too, but her skill fell short. Every time, Wen Shuang dodged with ease, and then the next second she would leap up and smash, sending the shuttlecock viciously into Xia Anran’s chest.
With a scream, Xia Anran fell to the floor.
“Brother Qin, she’s bullying me on purpose! We played more than twenty rounds, and in every single one she deliberately hit me with the shuttlecock. It hurts so much, it’s killing me!”
Trying to make Qin You feel sorry for her, Xia Anran spoke until tears welled in her eyes.
Truth be told, Qin You did not care all that deeply about her injuries.
But he still put on the proper appearance.
Frowning, he demanded of Wen Shuang, “You’ve gone too far, Auntie!”
Wen Shuang could not help feeling that every time he called her Auntie now, he did it through clenched teeth.
“How have I gone too far? I didn’t mean it. I just failed to hold back for a moment.”
She returned every one of Xia Anran’s earlier words to her.
Xia Anran was so furious she could barely speak. “You! You really are too...!”
She had meant to call Wen Shuang shameless.
But when she saw Ji Shen standing behind Wen Shuang, the words stuck in her throat and would not come out.
Ji Shen shielded Wen Shuang behind him. “If you can’t afford to lose, then don’t play. What kind of spectacle is all this sniveling? Qin You, what sort of fiancée have you found? Delicate and tearful at the slightest thing. You’ll suffer for it later.”
Xia Anran cried even harder.
In the past, the moment she suffered the tiniest injury, her whole family would panic.
But today, when she and Wen Shuang played badminton, Wen Shuang got hurt and every man there rushed to care for her. When Xia Anran was the one struck, they only said she couldn’t take a loss.
Yu Tian whistled. “Well now, why the tears?”
Seeing more and more people gathering to watch, Qin You could only grit his teeth and take Xia Anran away first.
Wen Shuang smiled faintly. “Niece-in-law, let Auntie give you a piece of advice: don’t be so arrogant in the future, or you’ll very easily end up crying from a beating.”
Xia Anran was so enraged she nearly lunged at her, but in the end Qin You reacted quickly and dragged her away.
Yu Tian, Zhou Fang, and their female companions applauded. “Magnificent, Sister Shuang!”
“Ah Shen, with Shuangshuang’s fiery temper and terrifying combat power, I’d say your status at home is in danger,” Yu Tian teased.
Ji Shen smiled. “If Shuangshuang wants to keep me in line, I don’t mind.”
“Who would have thought you were secretly a man ruled by his wife?”
Wen Shuang put down her racket and explained what had happened.
Xia Anran had provoked her first; only then had she struck back. Otherwise Xia Anran truly would have taken her for someone soft and easy to bully.
“So cool, Sister Shuang!”
The more Chu Chu watched, the more she admired her.
“She did deserve a proper lesson.” Yu Tian had heard of Xia Anran before. She was the Xia family’s precious jewel, their only daughter, and naturally they had spoiled her beyond reason.
“These days, the only one in the Xia family worth looking at is Xia Hanyan. Without him, one of the Four Great Families of the capital would have ceased to include the Xia family long ago.”
Xia Hanyan?
Wen Shuang silently repeated the name to herself.
Ji Shen heard her. “What is it?”
“Nothing.” In Wen Shuang’s mind flashed that refined, elegant face.
In truth, Xia Hanyan was the only normal person in the Xia family.
The group played merrily all afternoon, then went upstairs to the top floor for Western cuisine.
Aside from Xia Anran’s interruption, Wen Shuang had enjoyed herself thoroughly that day.
Ji Shen’s friends appeared carefree and worldly, yet there was courtesy in all their gestures. They knew how to joke and also where to stop.
Wen Shuang found that being with them was genuinely pleasant.
Meanwhile, after Qin You dragged Xia Anran away, she was beside herself with rage. She kept insisting that she wanted to go back and confront Wen Shuang.
“That vile woman Wen Shuang did it on purpose! Brother Qin, why aren’t you standing up for me? What do you mean by dragging me away instead!”
At last Qin You shook off her hand. “Fine, then go back. March right up to her in front of my little uncle and ask her exactly what she means by it!”
Xia Anran remembered Ji Shen’s chilling face.
“That little bitch must have fed your uncle some kind of love potion. He even made us call her Auntie. What right does Wen Shuang have to deserve that title?”
Qin You’s fists clenched even tighter.
Today, while Wen Shuang had been playing badminton, he had accidentally noticed the kiss marks on her neck.
They were vividly red.
At a glance, anyone could tell they were the marks a man left only when passion had overtaken him.
The thought that Wen Shuang and Ji Shen had already done such intimate things in bed made Qin You’s heart ache as though it were bleeding.
Wen Shuang could have belonged to him.
“Brother Qin, what are you thinking? Don’t tell me you’re still thinking about that little bitch.” Xia Anran sounded displeased.
Qin You snapped back to himself, but this time he did not explain. He only fell silent.
Xia Anran flung her handbag into his face. “Qin You!”
