Murong Yun’s reputation in Luocheng was so vast that it could be said everyone knew of her, yet she rarely appeared in public, and few had actually seen her face.

Lin Yimo was curious. She snuck a glance toward the bathroom; Lin Yang was still inside. After a brief internal struggle, she answered the phone and held it to her ear.

"Mr. Lin, are you awake?"

Although Murong Yun’s form of address was perfectly normal, Lin Yimo was a woman herself, and she could clearly detect the underlying intimacy in her tone.

"He’s in the shower. If you need something, please call back later."

Lin Yimo couldn't confirm if this was truly the most prominent woman in Luocheng, but she sensed a rival and couldn't stop herself from speaking up.

At the Murong Estate, Murong Yun was on the balcony of her private chambers. She had been in high spirits, hoping to have a long, sweet chat with Lin Yang, when a woman’s voice suddenly came through the phone.

Murong Yun’s expression shifted instantly. She pulled the phone away to look at the screen, confirming she hadn't dialed the wrong number, and double-checking that it was only eight-thirty in the morning.

Lin Yang’s phone was being answered by a woman who claimed he was in the shower. Why would he be showering so early in the morning?

That single sentence from Lin Yimo provided a wealth of information to Murong Yun, and her mind couldn't help but fill with questions.

Of course, this was exactly the effect Lin Yimo intended.

"Fine. Tell him to call me back once he’s out of the shower."

Murong Yun suppressed the urge to interrogate the stranger about her identity, forced herself to remain calm, pushed down the waves of speculation and agitation in her mind, and hung up.

Though Lin Yimo had achieved her desired result, she felt no triumph, only a deep sense of unease. If this Murong Yun truly was the young heiress of the Murong family, and if she intended to compete for Lin Yang, could she possibly win?

Lin Yimo felt entirely inadequate, lacking any shred of confidence.

As soon as she set the phone down, Lin Yang emerged from the bathroom.

"Who called?" Lin Yang asked.

Lin Yimo looked flustered; answering someone else’s phone without permission was, after all, rather impolite.

"Murong Yun," Lin Yimo replied, staring intently at Lin Yang to gauge his reaction.

But Lin Yang’s expression remained unchanged. He sat on the edge of the bed and, rather than reaching for his phone, he took Lin Yimo’s hand and asked softly, "How do you feel? Is it painless? It should help relieve your fatigue."

Lin Yimo pursed her lips and said, "I answered the phone just now."

"Oh? What did she say?"

Lin Yang’s expression remained indifferent as he asked the question.

"Nothing... nothing much. Just told you to call her back later." Lin Yimo felt guilty; her act of answering the phone had been a calculated move.

"Mm." Lin Yang nodded but did not call back immediately.

"This Murong Yun—is she the young heiress of the Murong family that I’ve heard about?" Lin Yimo asked.

"Yes."

"I’ve heard she’s incredibly capable yet keeps a very low profile, rarely appearing in public. People call her the greatest beauty in Luocheng, shrouded in mystery. Are you two very close?" Lin Yimo couldn't resist digging for answers.

"Mm."

"Then what is your relationship?" Lin Yimo pressed.

"Friends."

"Friends like us?"

"Time's up. It's time to remove the needles."

Lin Yang changed the subject; he couldn't let Lin Yimo continue this line of questioning. He pulled the silver needles from Lin Yimo’s body and said, "There, you can go take your shower now."

Lin Yimo was a clever woman. Seeing Lin Yang evade her questions and deliberately shift the topic, she knew their relationship was far from simple. Because she was clever, she chose not to push further.

Once Lin Yimo entered the bathroom, Lin Yang picked up his phone and activated his "Double Pupils." The bathroom walls instantly became transparent, and he could clearly see every move Lin Yimo made in the shower stall.

He dialed Murong Yun’s number.

"Finished your shower so soon?" Murong Yun asked.

"How did you know I was in the shower? Did you install surveillance in my home?"

Lin Yang had already seen Lin Yimo answer the phone and heard their entire conversation while in the bathroom, but as a seasoned "sea king," he certainly couldn't let his guard down in front of Murong Yun.

"Who would bother spying on you? Your girlfriend told me." Murong Yun made no attempt to hide her jealousy.

"Isn't my girlfriend you?"

"I am certainly not. The person who answered the phone is," Murong Yun huffed.

"Don't talk nonsense. She’s the daughter of my father’s former driver. You met her when you came to my house last time. I treat her like a younger sister." Lin Yang had a stroke of genius—he would make Shen Youwei take the fall.

"A 'little sister' in the romantic sense, I bet. She’s in your room first thing in the morning and deliberately tells me you’re showering—isn't that just showing off to me? You two seem to have quite the spirit, exercising so early in the day."

Lin Yang could tell that Murong Yun was not only very jealous but also quite angry.

"I wake up at six every morning to practice, and I’m drenched in sweat, so of course I have to shower. She came to my room to call me for breakfast and just happened to catch your call, so I had her answer it to tell you I was in the shower. What are you thinking? It’s a complete misunderstanding."

Lin Yang delivered this explanation with perfect fluidity, leaving no hint of a lie.

Upon hearing this, although Murong Yun didn't believe him immediately, her jealousy and anger dissipated significantly.

"She doesn't look at you like a sister looks at a brother, does she? Even though I only met her once, I could see the hostility in her eyes."

"Uh... maybe... perhaps. I can't stop people from liking me, can I?" Lin Yang laughed.

"Besides, you two are living under the same roof, together day and night; anything could happen. Do you plan on letting them live at your place forever?" Murong Yun asked.

"Not at all. They’re just staying temporarily. They’ve been looking for a house, but haven't found a suitable one yet," Lin Yang explained.

"I have a vacant apartment in Taoxi Garden—over two hundred square meters, fully equipped, and in a great location. I'll give it to them; they can move in right away," Murong Yun said generously.

"A place in Taoxi Garden is worth at least six or seven million. You’re just giving it away like that? And to someone who has nothing to do with you?" Lin Yang was surprised by her decisiveness.

"Compared to you, what are a few million? It’s settled. I’ll send someone over later to take them to handle the property transfer; they can move in this afternoon."

Lin Yang laughed. This swift, decisive, and domineering style was exactly Murong Yun’s temperament.

To prevent him from developing feelings for Shen Youwei over time, she was literally throwing away a multi-million dollar apartment.

Shen Youwei taking this fall was worth it!
