Chapter 83: Watch Me Perform!
Although Ding Tai was startled by Lin Yang's strength, he remained confident in himself.
“Then I shall trouble you, Mr. Ding.”
Wang Jiaqian cupped his fists in salute.
Ding Tai waved a hand, then asked Lin Yang, “Boy, who taught you?”
“You are not qualified to ask. For your master, Grandmaster Jiang, I spared you just now. If you strike again, you will bear the consequences of life and death yourself.”
Lin Yang could have crippled Ding Tai with a single move, but since he was the personal disciple of a grandmaster, Lin Yang had given him a measure of respect.
How could Ding Tai believe him? He gave a cold laugh.
“Arrogant beyond measure! Just now, I was holding back, and you’ve already grown so full of yourself. This time, I’ll go all out. Prepare to die!”
Ding Tai again took up his stance, fierce as a tiger, and charged at Lin Yang once more.
This time, he truly held nothing back. His fists were fiercer than before, the thousand-pound force of two tigers converging upon them.
Yet this time, Lin Yang no longer stood in place to take the blow.
He unleashed the Thousand-Mile Thunder Movement. Just as Ding Tai’s heavy fist came crashing down, Lin Yang vanished like instant movement and appeared directly at Ding Tai’s side.
Then Lin Yang swept out a kick, sending Ding Tai flying more than ten meters. He slammed to the ground, rolled another dozen meters, and only stopped when he crashed into the garden wall.
Ding Tai coughed blood and screamed in agony, while the others seemed to have their throats seized. They could only stare blankly, faces frozen in shock, unable to make a sound.
“Yay! I knew Brother Lin Yang was amazing. He definitely wouldn’t lose.”
Shen Youwei, watching secretly from the doorway, was thrilled beyond words.
Her cheers finally snapped Wang and Dou, father and son alike, back to themselves.
“How can this be?!”
“Mr. Ding, an eighth-rank expert and the personal disciple of a grandmaster, was heavily injured by a single move?!”
At this point, it was no longer simply disbelief; they felt as though they had seen a ghost.
“Chairman Wang, what... what do we do now?”
Father and son from the Dou family were already beginning to panic. They had come to seek revenge, yet the strongest man among them was already lying on the ground. How could they possibly come away well from this?
“Why panic? With me here, what can he do?”
Wang Jiaqian forced himself to remain calm.
Ding Tai struggled to his feet, but with such severe injuries, he no longer had the strength to fight.
“Y-you... who exactly are you?”
He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and asked.
“Do you still have something to say?”
Hands behind his back, Lin Yang strolled forward.
“I lost, and I admit it! But the Sea and Sky Gang will not lose. You have already offended the entire Sea and Sky Gang. Just wait and bear its wrath.”
Though gravely injured and defeated, Ding Tai remained unrepentant and instead issued a threat.
“A defeated man still dares threaten me. I said I spared your life to show Grandmaster Jiang some respect. Seems you do not want to live after all!”
Lin Yang moved again, swift as a passing wind. In the next instant, he was before Ding Tai.
His fist struck out.
Ding Tai’s chest caved in at once, his eyes bulging forward. His whole body was sent flying again, straight out through the villa gate and into a car.
The car was smashed inward, and Ding Tai lay atop it, blood gushing from his mouth. His lips opened and closed as though he wished to speak, then his head tilted to one side and he breathed his last on the spot.
“D-dead?!”
Dou Jun checked for breath at the nose and trembled all over, his face as white as paper.
“Chairman Wang...”
Dou Tao hurriedly hid behind Wang Jiaqian.
An eighth-rank master, the disciple of a grandmaster—killed without a second thought. Dou Tao knew all too well that his own life was even more insignificant.
Whether he could walk out of here alive today was still unknown.
Wang Jiaqian looked calm on the surface, but inwardly he was terrified as well.
Though the Wanhao Chamber of Commerce was large, it might not necessarily be more powerful than the Sea and Sky Gang, which had a grandmaster stationed within it.
“Dad... what do we do... will he kill us too?”
Wang Shenglan, who had been single-mindedly bent on revenge, was utterly frightened now. To her, Lin Yang seemed like a ghostly deity, and fear rose in her heart without warning.
“What... what do you want?”
Wang Jiaqian stammered out this one sentence.
A faint smile appeared on Lin Yang’s face, but to the four of them, that smile was more terrifying than anything else.
Before he even said a word, Dou Jun, quick-eyed and quick-handed, suddenly slid to his knees before Lin Yang and thudded his head to the ground three times in a row.
“Lin Yang, I was wrong. I should never have opposed you, and I certainly should never have come to seek revenge again. Please, for the sake of being classmates, spare me. I don’t want to die!”
“So long as you don’t kill me, this dog’s life of mine belongs to you from now on. I’ll follow you faithfully and never hesitate! Whatever you tell me to do, I’ll do it. Even if you tell me to eat filth, I won’t hesitate for a second.”
Dou Jun’s entire chain of actions was so smooth, so seamless, that it left everyone else staring in stunned silence.
“Damn, this kid’s enlightenment is a little too high!”
As his father, Dou Tao could not help praising his son’s quick wits, and immediately tried to imitate him.
He too slid to his knees, first kowtowing, then admitting fault, and finally begging for mercy while pledging loyalty.
“I’m considered a friend of your father’s too. We’ve eaten together and played cards together. For your father’s sake, spare my life.”
The Dou father and son, in order to survive, had no time to care about face or dignity. Their fluent, seamless performance left others dumbstruck, and even Lin Yang had not expected it.
Seeing this, Wang Shenglan quietly tugged at her father Wang Jiaqian and gave him a meaningful look, as if to say: should we try that too?
Lin Yang laughed.
“Dou Jun, Dou Jun, you’ve really opened my eyes today. Sliding to your knees over several meters—doesn’t that hurt?”
Lin Yang asked with a smile.
“Not at all! As long as you’re happy, I can do it again for you!”
After saying that, Dou Jun got up from the ground, though his movements were clearly stiff. That last slide had been hard on his knees.
Lin Yang did not stop him. Dou Jun actually backed up a few steps, then slid to his knees again.
This time, however, the distance was a little shorter, and a smear of blood was left on the ground.
Dou Jun did not make a sound. His forehead had been split open, blood trickling down, yet he did not dare wipe it away.
To survive, he was willing to do anything.
Seeing this, Dou Tao cursed inwardly. What was this unfilial son showing off for? He even wanted to perform it again! He had already torn his knee open doing it once; there was no way he could do it a second time.
“Then... should I do it once more too?”
Dou Tao said through a twitching mouth.
“Enough. Don’t damage my family’s floor tiles. You two may go.”
Those words brought immense relief to father and son alike; the stone in their hearts finally fell away.
“Thank you! Thank you for sparing our lives!”
Dou Jun kowtowed again, prostrating himself fully. Even Dou Tao, standing beside him, felt a little admiration for his son. In the art of yielding, his father truly could not compare.
“Remember this: three strikes and you’re out. If you ever fall into my hands again, not even the Emperor of Heaven himself will be able to save you. Get lost!”
Lin Yang had never intended to kill Dou Tao and his son in the first place. The whole spectacle had already been created by the pair themselves, and he no longer cared to pursue it.
He believed that after this, the father and son would absolutely not dare to court death again.
