“Damn it…”

Liang Kuan was caught off guard, doused with liquor all over his face, and cursed loudly.

But before he could finish, Lin Yang stood up and slapped him twice, the blows sending stars spinning before Liang Kuan’s eyes and a buzzing in his ears as he staggered in place.

Before Liang Kuan could recover, Lin Yang grabbed the bottle of whisky he had ordered and smashed it directly on his head.

The bottle shattered. Liang Kuan clutched his forehead, screaming, as fresh blood streamed through his fingers—yet again his head was split open and bleeding.

Beside them, Liu Fuyu jumped in fright; she hadn’t expected Lin Yang would dare lay hands on Liang Kuan.

Lin Yang then seized Liang Kuan by the collar and tossed him straight out the window.

“Lin Yang… you… are you out of your mind? How dare you hit him?”

“Feeling sorry for him?”

Lin Yang pulled out a tissue and wiped his hands.

“You’re finished! Liang Kuan isn’t someone you can afford to offend anymore! With one phone call, he could secure a partnership with Ding Sheng for us. Even the Murong family must show respect to his father. You’re doomed! Don’t think that just because this woman has a bit of money, she can protect you.”

Liu Fuyu raged.

“I don’t need anyone to protect me,” Lin Yang replied.

Murong Yun couldn’t help but interject, “You really are a fool, aren’t you? You think the Liu family became Murong’s partner, and now you’re something special? You don’t even know who’s really helping you. It’s laughable.”

“What do you mean by that?” Liu Fuyu demanded.

“Go check if your boyfriend is dead. Stop embarrassing yourself here.”

Murong Yun dismissed her, and Liu Fuyu, not wanting to argue further, hurried out of the bar to find Liang Kuan.

At that moment, the bar manager approached. “Excuse me, but we don’t allow fighting here. Please leave.”

Murong Yun pulled a card from her purse and placed it on the table.

The manager glanced at it, his demeanor instantly changing.

“So it’s Miss Murong. My apologies for the unpleasant experience. Do you need assistance dealing with those two?”

The card was the bar’s Supreme VIP card—only ten had ever been issued, each custom-engraved with the holder’s name.

“No need. Just clean up the place,” Murong Yun said.

The manager quickly arranged for the floor to be cleaned. Lin Yang shook his head, “Can’t even have a peaceful drink. There’s always some idiot begging for humiliation. Does Liang Kuan’s family really wield that much power now?”

“How could they? Three years ago, I chose Jian Sheng Group for a partnership and approved Liang Jian joining the Marriott Chamber, that’s all. But Liang Kuan really has some nerve, trying to steal your credit. No wonder you were angry enough to hit him.”

Murong Yun smiled.

“I didn’t hit him for that. He’s just annoying. That kind of credit means nothing to me,” Lin Yang scoffed.

“Yes, yes! How could someone of your status care about such things. What you really care about is Liu Fuyu being his girlfriend, right?”

“That’s even less likely. I haven’t been involved with her for ages. Whoever she chooses to be with is none of my concern,” Lin Yang denied.

“Don’t try to hide it! Men are always selfish in matters like this.”

“You know men so well?” Lin Yang retorted.

“I know human nature. Most of what I read is about psychology and human nature—it’s very useful in business.”

Murong Yun smiled.

Outside, Liang Kuan’s face met the pavement in a brutal embrace, his handsome features now nearly unrecognizable, and he lost consciousness.

Seeing Liang Kuan’s bloodied face, Liu Fuyu panicked, tried to wake him for ages, but failed, so she called emergency services to get him to the hospital.

On the way there, Liu Fuyu phoned Yu Ping, explaining what had happened.

“What? Lin Yang beat Liang Kuan so badly he’s in critical condition? That little bastard—he can’t stand to see us happy and did this on purpose!”

Yu Ping was livid after hearing the news.

“Mom, what should we do now?” Liu Fuyu sobbed.

“Don’t panic, Fuyu. We didn’t lay a hand on him! Your father and I will head to the hospital right away.”

Yu Ping hung up and rushed to the study to find Liu Chengzhi.

“What’s wrong?” Liu Chengzhi asked.

Yu Ping slapped his computer off the desk.

“This is a disaster!”

“You can’t just smash my computer! I was working on tomorrow’s proposal for Ding Sheng!”

Liu Chengzhi was angry, his face dark.

“To hell with your proposal! The partnership might be off. That nephew you’re so intent on looking after—Lin Yang, that little bastard, just seriously injured Liang Kuan, and he’s being rushed to the hospital!”

Yu Ping raged.

“Lin Yang beat Liang Kuan? That can’t be…”

Liu Chengzhi was stunned.

“Of course it’s true! Fuyu just called and told me. Do you think she’s lying? Liu Chengzhi, I’m telling you—if you ever mention looking after Lin Yang again, I’ll divorce you! That little bastard is nothing but bad luck; he can’t stand to see us prosper. Stop clinging to that ridiculous uncle-nephew sentimentality.”

Realizing the gravity of the situation, Liu Chengzhi grew anxious.

“I’ll call Lin Yang and ask for details.”

“What’s the point? What’s left to ask? Get to the hospital! And call Uncle Chen—have him personally apprehend that little bastard and hand him over to the Liang family, or else we’ll be ruined too!”

Yu Ping, furious, was already searching for a way to manage the crisis.

“But…” Liu Chengzhi hesitated.

“Make the call!” Yu Ping shouted.

“Calling Uncle Chen won’t help now. Lin Yang’s caused a huge mess and will definitely hide. Where would we find him? Let’s go to the hospital first, then I’ll try to contact Lin Yang and find out where he’s hiding before catching him.”

Liu Chengzhi came up with a delaying tactic to calm Yu Ping’s rage.

“Liu Chengzhi, listen to me! If you hesitate again, clinging to old feelings, our whole family will be finished.”

With that, Yu Ping stormed out, ordering Liu Jie to drive them to the hospital.

“Oh, Lin Yang, why did you have to cause such trouble? This time, even your uncle can’t protect you.”

Liu Chengzhi stomped his foot in frustration, his face full of disappointment.

Meanwhile, in the bar, Lin Yang and Murong Yun had finished their drinks and were ready to leave.

“I’ve been drinking, so I can’t drive. Will you take me home?” Murong Yun’s cheeks were flushed, her eyes bright and seductive, the alcohol lending her a soft allure. She placed a hand on Lin Yang’s shoulder.

“With your tolerance, you shouldn’t be drunk,” Lin Yang remarked.

“I got drunk on purpose—to give you a chance to take me home. Don’t you want to?”

Murong Yun leaned on Lin Yang’s shoulder, her breath tinged with the scent of wine, her voice tempting him.

Lin Yang opened the car door, letting Murong Yun sit inside.

Just then, three burly men in black stepped out of a nearby vehicle and surrounded them.

“Miss Murong Yun, please come with us. Our boss wishes to see you.”
