Chapter 82: Even the Eighth Rank Are Like Ants
Dou Tao said, “That brat is truly reckless, relying on his martial skills to look down on everyone. Chairman Wang has managed to invite Mr. Ding here—he’ll surely make him kneel and beg for mercy.”
The Dou father and son were here merely to stir up trouble and curry favor.
“Kneeling and begging isn’t enough! I want him to wish he were dead!” Wang Shenglan trembled all over, his face twisted and ashen beneath his mask, overflowing with hatred.
“Exactly! We mustn’t let him off lightly. Make him suffer, unable to live, unable to die, humiliate him completely,” Dou Jun chimed in, echoing his father.
Then the Dou father and son volunteered to go knock on the door.
Inside, Shen Limin and his family heard the heavy thudding of someone kicking at the door.
“Weiwei, it sounds like we have guests again. Go open the door,” Shen Limin called.
Shen Youwei, hearing the commotion, realized this wasn’t knocking—it was kicking. How could any guest be so rude?
“Could it be Wei Dagang coming for revenge?” She hesitated, not daring to open the door right away.
Upstairs, Lin Yang and Murong Yun heard the noise and stepped onto the balcony.
“Is it Chen Tianhao’s people?” Murong Yun’s expression changed.
“If Chen Tianhao had sent someone, would they need to kick the door? Who knows what riffraff is out there—oblivious to danger. I’ll go take a look,” Lin Yang replied.
Murong Yun nodded; as long as they weren’t Chen Tianhao’s guests, she felt no concern.
Shen Youwei was urged by Shen Limin to open the door, but she was frightened. Just then, Lin Yang came downstairs.
“Weiwei, don’t go,” Lin Yang said, walking toward the entrance himself.
Outside, Ding Tai saw that the Dou father and son had kicked the door for a while with no response. He strode over, raised his palm, and smashed the iron door open.
At that moment, Lin Yang had just stepped into the garden from the house.
“That’s him!” Wang Shenglan and Dou Jun shouted in unison, pointing at Lin Yang.
There is a saying—when enemies meet, their eyes blaze with fury.
Both men’s eyes were instantly filled with hatred; they wished they could tear Lin Yang apart right then and there.
“Looks like last night’s lesson wasn’t deep enough for you two. Still haven’t learned? You dare come to my house?” Lin Yang stood with hands behind his back, speaking calmly.
“Lin Yang! Today you’re dead. The score from last night will be settled now,” Dou Jun exclaimed impatiently.
“Very well! Come here, I’ll give you a chance for revenge,” Lin Yang’s words made Dou Jun shrink back; he lacked the courage for a solo fight.
“You little bastard, don’t get cocky! I told you last night—the consequences of offending me are more than you can bear,” Wang Shenglan took off his mask, his face contorted in rage.
“In Luo City, few dare offend a Wang Qian. I haven’t seen a young man as arrogant and reckless as you in years.”
“Arrogance always comes at a price.”
“Vice Chairman Wang, I have no grievance with you. I won’t bother dealing with you. For the Murong family’s sake, I’m giving you a chance to save yourself—break your son’s foul mouth yourself, and I’ll let you leave safely. Otherwise, your days as Vice Chairman of the Grand Commerce Association are over,” Lin Yang said coolly.
Upstairs, Murong Yun heard Wang Qian’s voice and walked onto the balcony, looking down.
She remained silent.
Lin Yang had already shown respect to the Murong family; if Wang Qian failed to appreciate it, he was digging his own grave.
Wang Qian could not help but burst out laughing, his tone full of disdain.
“Ignorant child!”
“Do you think I was scared into this position?”
“I know you’re skilled, so I specifically invited Mr. Ding Tai here. He’s a direct disciple of Grandmaster Jiang, an eighth-rank expert. Are you still so arrogant now?” Wang Qian assumed a lofty, confident air.
“If Grandmaster Jiang himself were here, I’d be cautious. Eighth-rank is mere ants—he’s not qualified to act out in front of me,” Lin Yang replied.
“What a bold brat! Let’s see how long you can keep up that bravado!” Wang Qian, seeing Lin Yang’s stubbornness, stopped speaking and gestured invitingly to Ding Tai.
“Mr. Ding, you see? This kid doesn’t even respect you,” he said.
Ding Tai’s gaze was intense, murderous.
“I hope your strength matches your mouth. I hope your bones are as hard as your words—otherwise, I’ll crush them one by one and make you wish for death,” Ding Tai said coldly.
Lin Yang shook his head slightly. “Then… make your move.”
Ding Tai readied himself. The sound of bones cracking rippled through his body; veins bulged on his arms, and his temples protruded.
Clearly, Ding Tai had reached a high level in external martial arts, and was only a small step from attaining ninth-rank.
“Boy, you won’t withstand a single punch from me!” Ding Tai clenched his iron fist, radiating the aura of a tiger. The Wang and Dou families stepped back at the sight.
“An eighth-rank expert is truly extraordinary! Let’s see what tricks Lin Yang can pull now!” Dou Jun said smugly.
Boom!
Ding Tai stomped hard, shattering several tiles beneath his feet, then charged forward like a tiger descending a mountain.
At that moment, Ding Tai was like a man-eating beast, unstoppable.
Lin Yang watched, raising his eyelids slightly, unmoving.
Only when Ding Tai’s fist was within a foot of him did Lin Yang lift his hand and make a fist.
Bang!
Compared to Ding Tai’s ferocity, Lin Yang was calm and effortless—just a simple fist, no flourish.
Their fists collided directly.
Lin Yang stood unmoved, while Ding Tai was flung backward, each step breaking the tiles beneath his feet.
Ding Tai retreated all the way to his starting point, barely steadying himself, his right hand trembling uncontrollably.
“A direct disciple of the grandmaster is indeed different—eighth-rank has the strength of two tigers, a thousand pounds. Not bad,” Lin Yang commented.
Ding Tai’s face had already changed dramatically, filled with disbelief.
He had absolute confidence in his strength, surpassing others of his rank.
Yet the force coming from Lin Yang’s fist was far, far greater—well beyond a thousand pounds.
“Could this kid actually be a ninth-rank master?” Ding Tai couldn’t believe it. Lin Yang was barely in his twenties; Luo City had never seen such a young ninth-rank master.
If there were, how could he remain unknown? He would have been famous already!
“Mr. Ding… what happened?!” Wang Qian may not practice martial arts, but he was no fool.
The two exchanged blows—Lin Yang stood unmoving; Ding Tai was forced back to his starting point. The outcome was clear.
Ding Tai’s eye twitched twice. “We underestimated his strength. But you needn’t worry—I didn’t use my full power just now. I am the grandmaster’s direct disciple, invincible among my peers. He’s nothing. The result is inevitable!”
