Chapter 67: Licking the Soles
Dou Jun's gaze shifted to Lin Yang.
"This is also my classmate, Lin Yang. He's not an ordinary person."
"Oh? And what makes him so extraordinary? Tell us," Wang Shenglan asked.
"He used to be the young director of Xingyao Group, the eldest son of the Lin family—a legend at school. Unfortunately, just over two years ago, his parents died in a car accident. This good-for-nothing couldn't manage the company at all, and it eventually changed hands, falling into Qin Monong's lap instead.
He let himself go, turned to gambling and drugs, utterly useless. But today, dressed up like this, he almost looks respectable," Dou Jun finished, then let out a loud, unrestrained laugh.
"I thought you were introducing someone important. He's not even worth mentioning. Xingyao Group means nothing to me now, let alone the ruined eldest son of the Lin family—he's not even fit to carry my shoes," Wang Shenglan said, lighting a cigarette and crossing his legs.
"But Qin Monong of Xingyao Group, now she's interesting. That woman is a rare gem. Just the thought of getting her into bed is enough to make a man excited," Wang Shenglan said, his expression lecherous and greedy.
"Young Master Wang, isn't Qin Monong in her thirties? A bit old for my taste. I prefer them younger. Her daughter, Qin Yanran, is much better," said another man beside him, Chen Zhe.
"You don't understand. Women like Qin Monong, at this age, are at their prime—like wine, they need time to mature and acquire depth and flavor, leaving an unforgettable aftertaste," Wang Shenglan pontificated, not noticing the glint of murderous intent in Lin Yang's eyes.
"Young Master Wang, this guy is Qin Monong's godson. If you want to get to her, maybe you can use him," Dou Jun said, trying to curry favor with Wang Shenglan.
"Oh? So you're Qin Monong's godson. Kid, I'll give you a chance to please me: go home and steal two pieces of Qin Monong's used lingerie for me. Do that, and I'll consider you one of my men—I’ll look after you from now on," Wang Shenglan proposed, his tone full of mischief.
Lin Yang replied with a smile, "What a coincidence. I'm interested in your mother's lingerie as well. Go steal some for me, and I'll give you a chance to please me."
At these words, Wang Shenglan exploded with anger and sprang to his feet. "You bastard, are you looking to die? Who do you think you are, talking to me like that?"
Dou Jun, delighted that Lin Yang had offended Wang Shenglan, could barely hide his schadenfreude. He hadn't called Zheng Nanxu over out of any goodwill; he had his own plans.
Dou Jun knew Zheng Nanxu was on good terms with Lin Yang, and just yesterday, Zheng had defended him in their group chat. This was the perfect opportunity for Dou Jun to humiliate Zheng, to teach him a lesson. The fact that Lin Yang had come along was icing on the cake—a chance to kill two birds with one stone.
"And who do you think you are, speaking to me like that?" Lin Yang retorted.
"Good! Very good! It's been a long time since I've met such an arrogant, reckless dog. Today, I'll make sure you leave this place on a stretcher," Wang Shenglan said, his anger giving way to a twisted smile.
Dou Jun stepped in, saying, "Young Master Wang, calm down. That's just his style—arrogant beyond belief, even I can’t stand him. Dealing with him is easy. Just watch me."
"Fine, let's see what you've got. But whatever you do, don't let him off easily," Wang Shenglan said menacingly.
Dou Jun looked down on Lin Yang. "Lin Yang, you’re still as arrogant as ever, but you don’t have the right to be anymore. If Young Master Wang wants you dead, you won’t see tomorrow."
"Whether I see tomorrow or not has nothing to do with a lapdog like you," Lin Yang replied with a faint smile.
Nearby, Weiwei tugged at Lin Yang's sleeve, shaking her head in warning, urging him not to provoke them further.
Zheng Nanxu also whispered anxiously, "Yang, let it go. A wise man knows when to back down. Dou Jun is nothing, but Wang Shenglan is the vice president’s son, and this is the Phoenix Palace. We can’t win here—just endure it."
"It’s nothing—just a few mad dogs barking. They lack discipline, nothing to be afraid of," Lin Yang said calmly.
The hostesses in the room all looked at Lin Yang with contempt, thinking he must have a death wish.
Wang Shenglan turned to the hostess in charge. "Go call the others. He’s not leaving Phoenix Palace on his own two feet."
The hostess immediately left to fetch security. The hostess who had been drinking with Lin Yang earlier, Xinxin, shook her head, glancing at him with a look of pity.
"You’re digging your own grave—no one can help you now," she said.
"You could help me. Aren’t you the top girl here? Just now, you were all sweetness, calling me ‘brother’ and chatting away. Now you’re not going to help?" Lin Yang teased.
Xinxin scoffed, "Are you out of your mind? Do you think we’re close? Do you really think I fell for you just because you’re good-looking? Ridiculous! You brought this on yourself—what does it have to do with me?"
Lin Yang sighed, "Indeed, a harlot has no affection, and an actor no loyalty—the ancients did not lie. If you were in trouble today, I’d help you out for sure."
"Save it. Take a good look at yourself—how dare you go up against Young Master Wang? You deserve whatever happens," Xinxin said with disdain.
Wang Shenglan threw an arm around Xinxin, saying, "In a moment, I’ll make him kneel before you, beg for forgiveness, and lick your shoes clean. That should make you feel better, right?"
"Thank you, Young Master Wang. That sounds wonderful—my high heels are a bit dirty, after all," Xinxin replied coyly.
The other hostesses joined in, "Young Master Wang, our shoes are dirty too!"
"Fine! Soon I’ll have him lick every one of your shoes clean. Satisfied?" Wang Shenglan laughed.
"You’re so powerful, Young Master Wang!"
"We love you, Young Master Wang!"
The hostesses shrieked with excitement, as if intoxicated.
At that moment, the hostess returned with Phoenix Palace’s security guards. The guards surrounded Lin Yang and Zheng Nanxu, locked the door, and fear struck Weiwei—her face drained of color, not knowing where to turn.
"Scared? If you’re afraid, you can join them," Lin Yang said to Weiwei.
She bit her lip, fear evident in her eyes, but she did not move toward Wang Shenglan.
"See that? Even if the king of heaven himself came today, he couldn’t save you," Wang Shenglan said arrogantly, one foot on the coffee table.
Zheng Nanxu had never experienced anything like this. Terrified, he was sweating, his face pale, and his body shaking uncontrollably.
"Zheng Nanxu, I called you here out of kindness, to offer you some business and a helping hand. Now it’s your turn to show where you stand," Dou Jun said, fixing his gaze on him.
"Weren’t you going to thank me just now? Then go ahead—beat Lin Yang up, as hard as you can. The more brutal, the happier Young Master Wang and I will be. And the more we’ll help you."
